If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have being using MOG through my iPhone 4S with my 2012 Genesis 4.6 since I purchased it back in Aug 2011. MOG is a wonderful streaming music service that allows you to play songs, albums and playlists from a selection of over 20 millions selections at a bitrate of 320k for a cost of under $10 per month. It's audio quality is higher than that of iTunes and significantly higher than XM. You can play just about any song, or album and construct playlists anyway you like them and you can even set up favorite artists and albums. And with the surround sound setting enabled on the Lexicon it sounds awesome. New albums are available the same day they are realized. As an example I've been listened to Seal's Soul 2 album and Steve Tyrell's I'll Take Romance album since they were both released in the past two weeks. There is great depth and presence on all songs and notable is Seal singing Wishing on a Star. All for my single monthly subscription fee which can be cancelled at any time.

With its latest download the song information is passed through to the Lexicon audio system and it appears on the nav screen. Additionally the song tracked can be controlled up or down or paused through the Genesis steering wheel. I am very happy camper since this software release on my iPhone and I strongly recommend this service. The same play lists and favorites also plays on my home whole house Sonos system which makes it especially convenient.

Very cool. XM radio is too compressed. How is MOG with streaming? Does it skip much depending on your phone's data speeds?

I find that MOG very rarely skips. I use it for about 90% of my music when in my Genesis. It's important to be on a unlimited data plan given the bandwidth requirements otherwise you might run up a significant bill.

I currently use Spotify and pay 10 dollars a month, but the bad thing is it won't let me next the song on my steering wheel and such. :( It does show the song and artist on the screen though.

I see that the MOG Primo account lets you download music to your device, so you don't have to stream on the go. Unfortunately, I can't seem to create a MOG account that isn't tied to my Facebook account. I've emailed MOG support about it.

I was finally able to sign up for the MOG Primo plan, which lets you download music to your device over Wi-Fi, saving data charges. I downloaded several songs into MOG on my iPod touch and hit play. I could hear the music, but the MOG playlists didn't show up on the display - only the iTunes playlists appeared. So I deleted all the non-MOG music from the iPod, but that caused an endless connect-disconnect loop in the Genesis.

How were you able to get the MOG playlists to appear? (I wonder if it's an iOS problem, since I'm running iOS 4.x on the iPod. I may have to give it a try with my 4s.)

Thanks.

MOG playlist will not appear on the Genesis screen. The song information is passed to the Lexicon and the song will appear on the screen briefly when a new song comes on. Additionally the steering wheel controls can be used to advance to the next or last song.

I hope the like the quality of the music.

This is a new "feature" - they have an independent login capability, but unfortunately you have to use FB now for the initial account registration.

The quality is very good. I verified tonight that the iOS version makes a difference. With my iPod touch running 4.x, MOG is nearly unusable. It's a lot better with my iPhone 4S running 5.0 and works as you described. Unfortunately, the iPod is too old to upgrade the OS, so I'll have to decide whether I want to plug in my iPhone every time I get in the car.

After I wrote them they set me up with a non-Facebook account. MOG is certainly interesting. One thing I haven't learned yet is how to create a playlist on my device - I know how to do it online and then download it, though.

You cannot create a playlist on your device, only online on your computer.

So I've discovered.

The "workflow" involved in using MOG in my Genesis is certainly more complex than I'd like it to be. If I edit a playlist online after I've downloaded it, there's no way to update it on the device without deleting it and downloading it again. It's also a pain to have to hook up my iPhone whenever I get in the car, launch the MOG app, and then disconnect it when I get out. I actually left my phone in the car a couple of times and had to go back to get it, so I'm buying a used iPod touch running iOS 5 to keep in the car.

But overall, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The sound quality is very good and the fact that I can download and listen to entire songs for as long as I want without buying them outright is leading me to explore more kinds of music. So thanks very much for bringing this service to my attention.
