SeriusXM Quality Question

I've had XM for several years - both units are little portable receivers and I have one in my Toyota Sequoia using a tape adapter.

That unit sounds better than my 2012 4.6 Tech/Premium - at least to my ears. Do different units have different compression or quality specs? Am I just better able to hear the poor quality in my Genesis? Is this perhaps a free for X days issue? I was going to transfer my sub from my home unit to my car but I'm not sure I really want to if the FM radio stations sound so much better - even the non-HD stations.

Any advice appreciated.

Your car has 17 quality speakers and that's why you're noticing the compression of XM. FM, especially FM HD, will usually sound better than XM. DVD-A will sound best. Search for those threads here for proof.
I let my subscription to XM lapse when the trial was over. My ears couldn't take it.

That's sad but that was my conclusion after talking with SeriusXM. I am considering plugging my other portable XM radio up the the AUX input just to see if I can hear a difference. It's really hard for me to believe that my ears are playing that big a joke on me in my Toyota. If it sounds better then it has to be something with the D/A conversion.

How come nobody told me. I feel as though I've been living in an XM cave for the past 10+ years. I was signed up and waiting when they flipped the switch back in 2001 and have not listened to anything else since. This thread got me to press that "other" button (AM/FM) right next to XM and boy was I blown away. At first it was standard FM but in a couple seconds the digital kicked in and I was instantly sold.
