  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012 genesis sedan - price paid

congrats Ruissimo!
i respect your patience.
why are you getting the car detailed right away?
Thanks brother! It's not technically getting detailed. After some wonderful advice on these forums, I decided I didn't want the "dealer installed swirl option" or "complementary scuff marks", so I specifically instructed them to sell me a dirty car - my detailer is doing the exterior new car prep for me (as well as 35% tint all around). I'm doing the interior myself when I pick her up tomorrow.

PICS ---> ALBUM

Many more pics expected this weekend (if the weather improves - we got 3 or 4 inches this morning -what a terrible day to pick up my new car!)

put down ~ 40% as a down payment and financed the rest at the current Hyundai financing deals. I'm sure the wife will pay it off in 2 yrs, though, like always LOL.

Smart way to do it rather than leasing. Smart wife also.

Has anyone done a deal where you agree on the amount over the invoice (less rebates and factory offers)?

That's the way I've bought my cars over the last 20 years. Once we've agreed on that amount, I order the car.

Hmm... I don't see why not! Put it to you this way, I knew EXACTLY what I was gonna pay this morning when I picked up the car... and I knew it yesterday. Well... everything except the exact doc fees amt (estimate came within $40 or $50 bucks). I did all the negotiating over the phone, faxed a credit application and was pre-approved before I walked in the door this morning.

Got to the dealer at 9:45am this morning. Was on my way home by 12:30pm. Fastest, easiest, and the by FAR the least stressful car purchase for me so far.

For your reference, I'll put it in perspective:

- I paid $41,200 for an R Spec
- Sticker price for this car: $47,879
- Invoice is $44,617
- Dealer Cost is $42,213

Of course, there are other incentives, holdback amounts, and manufacturer-to-dealer reimbursable moneys to take into consideration. I don't know them, nor want to. Hope this helps!

Just picked up 2012 Genesis R-Spec this week, Titanium Grey/Black with cargo net, cargo mat, iPod cable as options. MSRP Sticker was $47,879.

I paid $39,991 out the door with loyalty coupon, Tax/Title/License and doc fees. I did trade my 2008 Sonata GLS in for $9k and financed the remaining $30,991 at 2.49% through the dealership / local bank, but not HMFC as it was a better rate then the 2.9% for 60 month.

Loving the car and definitely happy with the purchase.

Not to poop on your parade but the Hyundai Assurance (the price dealer pays you if you bring the car back after 2-4 years) only works if you finance through Hyundai Financial...been there, done that.

40k out the door...that's an excellent price, beyond excellent.

Must have gotten raped on the trade :welcome:

Does anyone have a list of the incentives available? Im being quoted a price of $42,600 for an R-spec with incentives that apply to me. If I lease I believe there is another $1500 incentive but havnt gotten an MF and residual yet on the car to see if its worth going that route.

There's a $1,500 competitor's rebate *OR* a $1,500 loyalty rebate. You can't use both, though some people on here have said they got both. Hyundai site says no.

For the competitor's rebate, I had to show them a copy of my competitor car's registration IN MY NAME. And the car has to qualify as a competing car, I guess - I haven't seen the list.

For the loyalty rebate, same thing - show them you have another Hyundai in the household by giving them a copy of the registration.

Hyundai Circle members also get a specific price + a $250 rebate on top of it. Fair warning, the rebates are all post-tax; you pay taxes on the amount PRIOR to the rebates. Thanks, Uncle Sam!

Thanks for the info.

I was made aware of the Hyundai Assurance. Honestly I will probably have the car 3-5 years then it will become the wife's care or a trade again. I get a company car allowance, but drive too many miles to justify a lease.

I do feel I came out well in the trade. KBB put the 2008 Sonata GLS in excellent condition at $9k which is hardly ever the amount given. Black Book and Manhiem said I should get about $8500, so at least I don't feel too raped :D

Thanks for the welcome... Happy to be here!

educated customer, I like that :)

Well, I am the proud new owner of a 2012 Genesis R-Specs (black on black). Just wanted to test drive the car while I was on leave and ended up purchasing it instead of the 335i. Started out at 47k, then the dealer informed me that the owner just sold the dealership and they wanted to let it go fast, so they knock the price down to 43k but it had to be sold this weekend, I told them that if they would take 40k today it was sold. Well, it's sold! Out the door, after everything was was actually 39k.

I am a military member so I will pay tax and tag in florida but because I do not live in Florida I don't have to pay tax, so a win win for me...... Can't wait to actually drive it for a while. Thinking road trip to Florida from Kansas.

Got the car from Shawnee mission Hyundai. Awesome team over there! Now it's time to tint the windows and debadge....

Wow... you STOLE that R Spec! Congratulations!

Purchased 2012 Titanium Gray Metallic 4.6 on 03/04/12. Was just planning on test driving the 4.6 vs the 6 cyl but the wife decided she wanted the car so drove away after the following deal:

Vehicle Sticker:
Genesis 4.6 44500
cargo tray 100
ipod cable 35
wheel locks 50
freight 875
Total 45560

Deal price 40527
loyalty discount 1500
Total 39027

Upgraded from a 2006 Sonata LX. Hope the Genesis does us good.

That's a great deal. I was just about to post and ask if a V-6 with Technology and Premium for $38,904 (before taxes, title, doc fees) was a good deal. :(

I haven't bought it yet though...

First time buyer - looking at a 2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 base, in California.

Got the dealer down to 30.3k, factoring in the 1500 rebate. Trying to squeeze him for another 500 more.

30.3k - good deal?

If not, what can I do to get it sweetened?
