  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bought a 2012 genesis 3.8 sedan with hail damage at a salvage auction that runs great for $5k plus $1300 in auction fees and taxes. Another $2700 for tail lights, body work and paint so I'm in it for $9k with 54k miles. It is a base model but I love it. I'm on the road a lot for sales and have been driving a 2006 prius I bought with 60k miles on it 4 years ago for $10k and sold it for $4300 with 137k miles on it. It was great but gas is cheap and life is short not to mention the car gets great gas mileage. 27.8 mpg driving with the ac on from San Antonio to New Orleans averaging 80 mph. My 99 camry with a 4 cylinder couldn't do that. Bottom line it's like my mechanic says: "they don't make cars like they used to. they're a lot better." Even though it's a base model the car is amazing. Very underrated vehicle.

Wow, if it's all fixed up that's an amazing deal.

I paid $20500 Canadian for a 2012 3.8 with all features/packs over a year ago.

Thanks. I just picked it up from the shop today. Overall very happy with the repair. Looking forward to putting 100k miles on it. By far the best car I have ever owned. Oddly according to car fax the value on a 3rd owner car with a rebuilt salvage title is only $11,500. Were it not for the salvage title history it would be pushing $18-20k but I really don't care because I'm keeping it. I've still got to find a left rear tail light but I figure I'll be in it for another $200 or so. I was going to buy a lexus but I'm glad I didn't. I don't see how I could be happier in a Lexus that would have cost more and used premium gas that costs 60 cents more a gallon where I live. As much as I loved my prius the car just didn't have any soul. It was great and economical a to b transportation. With what I paid for this genesis I can expect the same except it is a hell of a lot more fun to drive.

Got mine 2012 4.6 tech package clean black/cashmere with 99k miles and crappy tires for 14500+taxes june 2016
