Auto windshield wipers should work at night, mine do. may be a dirty sensor. It is in the top center of teh windshield.
Pinging could be a motor issue. Too much timming will cause it along with other factors. With you also having acceleration issues, I would guess that they are related. May need a reflash of the ECU and check the Throttle position sensor. These cars are fly by wire, no gas pedal linkage or cable. Synthetic oil will not fix this problem.
I have the same map issue in my R Spec. Dealer checked and it has the latest update. Guess we'll both have to wait for a update.

Even in my R Spec I run regular gas and have had no issues with pinging. Have you tried using anoth companies gas? I know shell totes the nirtogen in their gas for cleaning but it also robs power from the motor and you get lower MPG. It's been proven more than once. To me, it's just another gimmic from the oil companies. If your worried about buildup in the engine, run a good oil and use a good addative in your gas.
