  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Problems with my 2012

Auto windshield wipers should work at night, mine do. may be a dirty sensor. It is in the top center of teh windshield.

Pinging could be a motor issue. Too much timming will cause it along with other factors. With you also having acceleration issues, I would guess that they are related. May need a reflash of the ECU and check the Throttle position sensor. These cars are fly by wire, no gas pedal linkage or cable. Synthetic oil will not fix this problem.

I have the same map issue in my R Spec. Dealer checked and it has the latest update. Guess we'll both have to wait for a update.

Your issues/concerns are real. Get them checked out.

Even in my R Spec I run regular gas and have had no issues with pinging. Have you tried using anoth companies gas? I know shell totes the nirtogen in their gas for cleaning but it also robs power from the motor and you get lower MPG. It's been proven more than once. To me, it's just another gimmic from the oil companies. If your worried about buildup in the engine, run a good oil and use a good addative in your gas.

I use Shell V-Power gas in my '72 911 and get noticeably better mileage and (feels like) more power than I did with Sunoco 94. My mechanic told me he had heard this from other Porsche owners and thinks it is because the Shell V-Power has zero ethanol in it.

I believe that the amount of ethanol in gas depends on where you live (at least in the US), rather than the brand of gas. Ethanol is generally required to be sold in metropolitan areas, at least in the US.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
From Exxon Mobil Website:
Do your gasolines contain ethanol?
In many areas of the country, oxygenates are required to be part of the gasoline formula. In those areas, our gasolines will contain ethanol, which is an oxygenate [US Fuel Requirements Map]. Ethanol is also used in California Cleaner Burning Gasoline and the Reformulated gasolines required in many of the major metropolitan areas of the country. In addition, to meet the Renewable Fuels Standard included as part of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, ethanol blends have been introduced to many more areas of the country.

You CAN do this. However, studies have shown that if an engine has the same oil in it from birth to death it live substantially longer than those who change oils frequently. I'm sure one change wouldn't hurt it, just don't go overboard. I have no idea why an engine would be this picky about oil heh

????????????? Another old wives' tale. Where do these things come from??

^^ Thats a great question to which I don't have the answer lol

I do, however, know that switching from traditional oil to synthetic oil later in an engines life can have adverse effects. Mainly oil leaks of the many. That one is by experience lol

Old engines have a tendency to leak oil, regardless of the oil used.

Did you stay with the same weight oil?? What was the brand?

I or my sons have changed the following used vehicles over to Mobil 1 without issues:

Two IH Scouts from the 70's.

1993 Thunderbird.

1990 Ford F-150 PU

1992 Range PU

1967 Corvette

1972 Volvo

Two Mercuiser I/O engines

2000 Ford motorhome with a V10

This may be the case with older cars, but not any more.

Okay, they called and said the car is ready for pickup.

Cruise Control Set light - Said that My model does not have one. humm is this true?
Auto wiper problem - Could not reproduce.
Pinging/knocking - Try Exxon gas and see if that helps. Computer not throwing any errors.
Acceleration problem - This is a drive by wire system and this is normal.
Rear seat belt - checked okay.
Oil changed.

I know I'm getting a bit picky with my complants, but figured they fix the Set light atleast, but they did change the oil atleast. :)
