  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My first post so go easy on me if i dork this up.

Just picked up my 2010 4.6L (17,000miles) last month. I thought it might be fun to match some of the 0-60 claims. Here is what i found.

Stock. 93 Octane (East Coast Gas). 1/2 tank gas. Stock Dunlops. 55F temp and Dry.

I first tried with ESC off (not pulling fuse or switching off fuse, just pushing button off in car). I figured that the car has plenty of HP up top but not too much grunt off the line. So, i thought some break torque would do some good.........WRONG! This is what happened. Spun right through first. Let off around 5000rpm in firsts because too much spin = slow 0-60. Fun! But Slow.

Then i tried with ESC off and no break torque. Just mash the pedal from dead stop. This is outcome. Just the right amount of chirp chirp off the line. No ESC interfear. A little flat from 2000-3000RPM and typical snail slow shift from 1-2. Result. Very solid and repeteable 0-60 times in the 5.5-5.6 range.

You can see the videos under you tube user Ginny VEight.

With better traction and ESC off and >2000rpm break torque, I bet these cars could get into the very low 5s.

Anyone have similar experiance or technique or trial for 0-60 runs.

In May, i'm taking her to the drag strip 1/4 mile for some times runs.

Sounds spot on. I think the Rspec gets you to at almost 5 secs flat. The v8 is so smooth and the power delivery is very linear with no drama. What an engine...

who knows, maybe that's the case, but I doubt it. I trust insideline's numbers lines numbers...
5.3 secs for the Rspec...

Agreed. There seems to be 3-6 tenths variation between all the published tests due, I think to many uncontrollable factors ranging from differences in drivetrain component manufacturing tolerances, break-in technique, fuel, temperature, altitude, tires, and other things we can all think of.

Can you imagine having this conversation a few years ago, a full size Hyundai sedan almost as fast 0-60 as a 911.

I remember thinking a fast, sporty Hyundai was a Scoupe!

Crazy thoughts. I'm about to do my 10,000 review, and suspect I'll be making some remarks about quality that would be equally surreal.

Looking forward to the review especially since you had a highly touted BM to compare to. Cheers.

With ESC off (fuse removed) and slicks we should get easy into 4.8 sec 0-60mph and 13 sec or less for 1/4 mile.

you cant turn it off w/o removing the fuse?
my 09 has an off button

The button partially disconnect ECS. If you want to kill ESC completely you have to remove the fuse...do a search as there is a post explaining this in great detail ;)

That goal has already been met without slicks. :)

Someone posted on here somewhere that a dealer took an R Spec to the track, ESC off and pulled the fuse. 0-60 = 4.8 sec. 1/4 mile in 12.87 sec.

This claim belongs to the sales manager I got my car from. Indeed he did not use slicks and aside from disabling the ESC nothing elase was done. He did have however several runs before achieving these numbers.
I do believe however that in order to get below 13 sec in a consistent manner one should use slicks.
