  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2009 Genesis Sedan, 3.8L V6 With Tech Package.

Front passenger door emits a very distracting buzz/rattle while driving. Much worse at highway speeds. It happens even when the audio system is completely turned off, so I don't believe this to be a blown speaker. It actually seems to die down if I turn music up... as if it's counteracting whatever vibration is causing the buzz/rattle. It also stops completely if I firmly press and hold the armrest from the side, so it must be something loose within.

Has anybody ever encountered this? I'm just worried that I'll end up paying for 3 or 4 hours of labor for someone to take the door apart and then say they can't find the issue. Am I chasing ghosts here? It's VERY annoying. It's been happening for a year or so and I just can't stand it anymore.

Please see video (you may need to turn the volume up high - But trust me, it's very loud in person): https://youtu.be/_ae3bBIAV8E

Is that a Canadian Genesis? It looks like you have wood-grain (plastic) trim on the dash, instead of leather insert. On USA 2009 models of Genesis, only the Base Trim has wood-grain dash, and Premium Package and Tech Package had leather inserts.

Like it makes a difference whether it's USA, Canadian, or other...

Either take it to your dealer, or an auto interior shop. They'll either tighten the arm rest, if possible, or take the door panel off to diagnose.
