  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

10 cars people won't buy

Not so sure this time. On the Hyundai webpage where it lists all the vehicles they show both the 2014 Genesis (from $35,200) and 2015 Genesis (Spring 2014).

Go to the home page https://www.hyundaiusa.com/ and put your cursor over the word "Vehicles" on the top of the page.

Depends...if you go directly to the vehicles displayed along mid page and click on the Genesis, there is no 2015. You can find it if you are looking for it, but many will not. This is all moot anyway, as there will still be many buyers who do not frequent web sites and walk into dealers armed with little knowledge. They will be intrigued with the 2014 pricing and the cars will sell.

Not wanting to get into one of the regular debates here, just stating an opinion that this group does not represent the normal buyer, who is much less informed on the model plans, etc.

I agree that members on this forum are not normal :D, but I think internet use is a lot higher than you think. People love the "Build your xxxx" and gas is too expensive to go around to every dealer to look at what colors they have in stock when you can see their inventory online.

I already explained everything you said in my previous posts.

And you stated that the list was not silly and that it was merely misconstrued in its headline, but the headline that you proffer is still wrong/misleading.

The list is not silly. But the headline is wrong, probably written by an intern since most media venues are too cheap these days to pay real wages to people who are actually literate.

The title should have read, "Top 10 Cars People Are Not Buying".

As I mentioned previously, the list is based on current inventory of number of days (not units) of inventory on hand. The number of days is based on historical sales volume for a particular vehicle since manufacturers usually do not like to keep more than 60 days of inventory on-hand. The list is not based on the absolute sales volume of number of units selling (as I explained in previous post).

A more accurate headline would be the Top 10 Cars Where Supply Does Not Coincide With Current Demand (but, of course, this title isn't simplistic enough or headline grabby).

Another thought - did Hyundai "pre-build" excess inventory pending retooling for the new model, and those models are already here for expected sale Feb, Mar, April?

TOTALLY anecdotal and subjective, but I think I have seen MANY more Genesis here (Toronto Ontario) in the last couple of months than in the prior 5+ years I've had mine.

This.

Hyundai stopped building the 1G Genesis some time ago as production had been switched to the 2G for the KDM.
