But what I mean is you already paid for them to do the update. No change in cost whether you do it or the dealer does it. In fact with your logic it costs you more if you do because it costs you the value of your time.

If (we are not sure yet) they give one update a year to the typical buyer I'm willing to swap my time to get more. Not a monetary savings, but I'm willing to do it myself rather than visit the dealer or even have my car picked up. That is why they would do it with regular service, the cost of concierge service for just a map update is considerable.

My time is what it takes to unwrap it and insert the SD. We had to go someplace so it installed during the drive.

Think of it as a barter system

Have 2017 G80 Ultimate and just ordered v13 yesterday. I installed v 12.5 on 11/2018 so this is my 2nd update in about 6 months. I actually rely more on iPhone for travel info so this is just icing on the cake!

I didn’t notice if anyone addressed this but has anyone gone through the process of downloading the update on a PC to then update the existing SD card then installing from there?

Update: I decided to give this a try. It took a bit of time but was actually quite simple. The mapnsoft website gives very easy to follow, step by step instructions. The only really minor thing was that after the update was completed Sirius XM needed to have the signal refreshed but that’s simple too. Just a quick call to Sirius.

People here have been looking for someone to provide the update download. There were some issues with the update linking to vin numbers etc. BUT if you have that file you could probably provide it for others?

Oh boy trying to remember. Pretty sure it was from the Genesis website but it may have been from a different website I found on this forum. Check this thread for older posts. You will probably find it there or on the Genesis website. If your car is eligible for free updates it’s totally free. I think if you order the update to be shipped you may be charged for the shipping.

Yes, and at checkout you have it billed to Genesis and shipped to you. Simple and no cost. Well, no immediate cost because you paid for it in the price of the car.
