12.5 Map Update

I had never done a map update on my 2018 G80 Sport HTRAC (9.2 inch HD touch screen). I created a Mapnsoft account and added my VIN today
I attempted to obtain the map update from www.mapnsoft.com, but received the note "Currently not available. New Update Coming Soon". I am unable to click the "PLACE AN ORDER" button as it is gra/eyed out. This is not an ad-blocker, anti-virus software or web browser issue.

ACTIVATION DATE 2/19/2018 (Date I purchased the vehicle)
EXPIRATION DATE 2/19/2021
VEHICLE INSTALLATION TIME Approx. 35 min.

The Mapnsoft website indicates the latest/current map update version for my vehicle is 12.5 / NA.11.47.44.XXX (PART NUMBER G125SP2).
Currently version 10.41.51.544.202 is installed in the vehicle.

I'll check back on the mapnsoft.com website later to see if there is any change, but based on Mr Incredible's above conversation with Mapnsoft, I will likely have to wait until 2/19/2019.

The map update manual indicates the update is simply swapping out the SD card in the car.
Q1) Where is this SD card located in the vehicle?
 
Do you have the Standard or Premium Navigation. If you have the standard navigation it's done by download or SD Card. Premium is done by SD Car only. I also have Genesis Platinum Warranty with unlimited map upgrades. This may be the difference.

SD Card is on the DIS navigation located in the center of the row of buttons directly below the CD slot. Check page 17 of the DIS manual.

The 2018 G80 Sport only comes with a single navigation/screen type. I believe it is the Premium Navigation version in the Ultimate 3.8L and 5.0L 2018 G80's (9.2 inch HD touch screen ). I'll take a look for the SD card below the CD slot the next time I get in/at the car.
 
Got asked a couple of times where the messaging settings are after the 12.5 update. They are under the Bluetooth settings (can get there from Phone menu too). 20181127_142136.webp

bubba if you have trouble finding it, I'll post a photo exactly where it is. I didn't do so today as I was rather busy with workouts. I wish it wasn't VIN specific I'd let anyone utilize it for the upgrade.

I dont have that “Message Settings” choice on my 2017 G80 — wondering if you have 2018 car. Anyway you mentioned there was an iPhone setting which could also accomplish texting on Nav. Would you mind sharing that as well? In any event thanks for your help.

Hi, I have a 2017 G80 Ultimate. Am using a Samsung Galaxy S9+ with it. I had to give the Bluetooth connection access to "Messages" which is how I noticed something was different. It did not request that access before the 12.5 update.

Thanks for the offer, but I was able to find it. Below is a pictures from my 2018 G80 Sport with the SD card half-ejected. The cover is rubberized not plasticy like the buttons (low risk of breaking/damaging). Push the SD card in to eject it. Small fingers or needle nose pliers are needed to remove it.

Looks like there are 2 new features (Message Settings and Bluetooth Voice Prompt) in 12.5 / NA.11.47.44.XXX map update.
The older map update version, currently installed on my vehicle (10.41.51.544.202), doesn't show these options.

I think I mentioned it already might have been a different thread, but I called and opened a ticket about it, and the agent said they would contact the correct team and investigate and get back to me, which they did about 6 hours later and informed my that under the wording of the warranty my model (2018 purchased in June 2018) is not eligible for an update until 1 year from the anniversary of the purchase, so June 20, 2019. Shortly there after the button got greyed out.

I suspect they are still tweaking the site, up until last week I couldn't even enter my VIN. initially after I entered my VIN, the site indicated the update was available, then it was out of stock, then it was unavailable, now it is greyed out.

at this point I suspect they are still trying to get the site correct and tie it in with the VIN purchase dates.

I am due for an oil change in 2 weeks and I will ask the dealership then. When I went in for my first oil change I was on version 11 (map ver. 10.47.xx.xx) and they updated me to version (map ver. 11.41.xx.xx) , pretty sure they will update me again to version 12.5 (map ver,11.47.xx.xx) if I ask nicely.

at least you only have 2 months to wait, I have 7. but yes I believe for 2018 owners you can only get the update (via this method) once a year and not until 1 year from your in service date.

luckily the dealership I deal with doesn't have an issue with giving me the updates (at least so far) when I come in for service.

I couldn't purchases the latest map for my 2015 (grayed out buy button as well) and I emailed them to ask why and they wrote back that due to some audio related glitches they had to pull the map and there is no ETA on it's return.

I'd bet the same. I've worked in service organizations for many years and been a consumer of the same. The most competent/helpful people are promoted or move on leaving the script readers and "closing the ticket is my priority/get you off the phone" type support people.

I asked Genesis after they started implementing this once a year map update policy making us eligible for an update on or after the purchase date anniversary....how will the 3rd update work when we wouldn't be eligible for it until the 3rd anniversary date which happens to also be the end date of the three year complementary period? It took them two days to think about this and then got back to me and said they'd honor the 3rd update after this three year period ends. I guess we'll have to wait and see how this will actually work. I would try and get something in writing from them a month before this three year anniversary or I would anticipate a problem.

Glad you asked them about this. One would think with that with a car at this price level, they wouldn't nit-pick about a map upgrade...
 
This weekend I re-checked the mapnsoft.com website. This was 5 days after registering on the site and getting the gra/eyed out "PLACE AN ORDER" button . I thought great I can order my update. Clicking on the button I got a new page that said "CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. NEW UPDATE COMING SOON". Sigh. I think they are "frickin" with me.

I happened to go to my local dealer for unrelated service last Friday. I asked about having them update the map and they said there would be a charge. I'll wait awhile and check back on the mapnsoft.com website.

Bubba G80 Sport...this was happening to me also. Even Genesis couldn't get into the Mapnsoft site as well. Let's just say it was messed up. But as of 30 minutes ago, 3:00PM ET, it was/is up and running properly. I was able to successfully place my order for V12.5 for my 2017 G80 8" Touch. I have a confirmation email from Genesis MapCare. One tip, when you can place your order, as long as you select "Bill GMA" on the ordering page, you can select 2 day Fed EX shipping at no charge. It was show a charge, but it goes to Genesis. Good luck.
 
Absolutely bill GMA. it's on them for the next three years.
