  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

12.5 Map Update

@pmcjr I don't understand, yours is the same year as mine even the same color. I get all the updates I want free. I just don't know how you're only able to get one a year. When I purchased our Genesis they specifically stated; unlimited free updates for 3 years. Of course I have a Platinum bumper to bumper warranty and it also extended this for the entire 10 year ownership of the car but I can't see this making any difference??

Thus is from the present web site but it is a little ambiguous. It says you are always accessing the most up-to-date but fine print says annually with routine maintenance. If they limit you to once a year, it is not the most up-to-date. However, there may be a limit for dealer installed.

My update arrived today. Haven’t installed it yet..

2018 G80 Premium package 8.0" touchscreen.

Just called Genesis customer care and was advised that the reason the update is not available is that there was something wrong with the programing itself for the update and the programers recalled it! Was advised to check back at the end of the month.

I’m going and try calling again today and see if I get the same bs!

Has anyone installed version 12.5 yet? Any problems?

After the recent issues with mobile app, I don’t want to be a test subject to see if 12.5 is ok.

No problems of any kind with mine.

I installed mine yesterday. It took longer than the 35 minutes, but no problems with the install. I lost my AM/FM radio presets, but Sirius/XM presets were retained. The main reason I wanted the update is that expressway speed limits have changed in the Chicago area, but the 12.5 update still has the old speed limits . Don't know how long it takes for that to get updated.

Did it yesterday. Takes a half hour or so but you can drive the car. I did some errands but you have no radio, backup camera, bluetooth. When done, the radio came back on.

I take it to mean that mapnsoft realeases updates once a year, like navteq, or HERE technologies. But that is just my interpretation.

With my Chrysler, GMs, and Lexus/Toyota models every year on October 1 for Chrysler/Gm and every year on June 1 for Toyota/Lexus. I get an email that the new release is out and only $150-$350 depending on the brand and model.

Got one in March, now one in December, so they are doing at least two a year if this is common practice.
Garmin offers lifetime maps and updates every month, but they are downloads, cheaper to do than mailing an SD card. My account with mapnsoft shows $35 cost to Genesis.

I was going to hold off for a better update. I bought a new house on a new street and the street does not show on any maps. I'm moving next week but may never find my house if I don't remember where it was. If you see a blue Genesis wandering aimlessly, that will be me looking for my house.

Did you get that in writing?
Yes we did. I need to go thru the Platinum Warranty paperwork to find it but I'll post it when I do.

@EdP we did that too over two years ago and it took a year to show our location and street.

I realize what everyone is saying and what's written here but this is our 4th this year. I still believe it has more to do with the 10 Platinum Bumper to Bumper warranty.

Installed Version 12.5 today. Took about 45 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't loose anything in my address book and didn't loose any of my FM or SXM channel presets.

Same, didn't lose anything either after update :)

How are you guys getting the new updates when I am told that the cards were recalled by the programmers due to a program errand that it screws up the radio! Rbwillnj, is yours a standard G80 ( not sport or the 8 cyl)? Also when did you purchased it?

5.0 Ultimate with 9.2" Screen.

I got the G80 back in March of this year and think I only used the built-in NAV once just to see how it worked. Google Maps via Android Auto is the way to go .

However...

I've got a multi-state drive planned next weekend and I like having multiple sources of guidance for long trips (backup, second opinion, etc). In particular with how only the built-in NAV works via the HUD and Dash. Also hoping this update fixes some Android Auto related glitches.

Either way, great timing and thanks for the heads up!

Who told you this? There has been no recall from Mapnsoft. If there was, there would be revision already available. There is no problem with the G80 9.2 update. Mapnsoft will contact you directly by email if there was a recall. They did this once before but not on this update.

Yes there was a recall 4 weeks ago, the fixed version was released this past week
