  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is anyone running a minus 1 fitment (18") on a R-Spec 5.0?

I'm looking at a staggered setup 18x8.5" +24 (front) 18x9.5" +24 on my R-Spec. (What is the best offset for 8.5" width?)

Any advice from the R-spec crowd would be greatly appreciated? Thx.

I tried the minus 1 fitment 18x9 +30 offset. I ended up needing a 20mm spacer in the front to clear the caliper. Really depends on the disk type need high disk HP disk to clear the calipers. More dish is usually a bad thing for bbk.

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me which wheels you were working with?

I'm looking at BBS RE/RK.

Thanks,

Sean

They were ESR LM reps.

Sorry, I have a few more questions...

Did you go staggered or 18x9 on all four corners? What size tires did you end up using for the 18's?

Also do you have any side-profile picture of the 18" setup?

Thanks!

I sold then wasn't happy with how they poked. No pictures of them mounted. Trust me when I tell you they poked about 3/8 of an inch from wheel wells. They were 18x9 square and ran 235/50/18. I'd say run 19s or 20s. 50 series on a 18 looks like a balloon

Thanks! I definitely don't want the "low-rider" look! haha. I really appreciate your help on this!

It was nice meeting you Sean, and congratulation on your new purchase...

Although I now understand your reasoning behind looking at the smaller rims, I still have some doubts regarding how the R-Spec would ride on 18"s, especially while being pushed a bit...

By the same token, I forgot to apologize, if I scarred you a bit while demonstrating the virtues of the rigit collar mod., when I took that 90 degree corner at 45mph+ in my R-Spec , but clearly 'White' was the winner of the color contest (at least this time around :p), never the less, I loved that Santiago Silver on your car...

It seems we almost have the same tint as well.. :D

Next time you are in ATL //NE area, will invite the 4.6 Genny along with a proper Camera so we can have some better photos..

Nice pics! I did have a momentary "oh, $h!t" going through my head on that 45 deg turn, but it wasn't that bad. :D I was actually amazed at how composed the car was.

We'll definitely have another meet soon. Maybe I'll have my pimping 18" wheels on by then. ;)

I am glad you liked these pictures, the iPhone 6 plus has a nice camera, but it does not hold a candle next to a Canon with 24-104L lens ;)...

[EDIT] As far as pushing my R-Spec, you will be pleased to know that was around 75% of what she is capable of doing, so there was plenty of reserve left :D.

Pushing her beyond 85% would require helmets, ideal driving conditions and a designated area to experience her full potential!
If you are interested, I can arrange something for your next visit (taking into consideration she is no TransAM or a Supra with 630 RWH, but rather a graceful ride with couple of tricks up her sleeves)...

As I have mentioned before, I believe what make a good driver is be 'able to push a ride to the red line but not beyond' while taking into account one's own reaction times as well as experience, age, car condition among other factors .

Where's the video?? :-)

Guys, sorry for coming late to the thread, but...
I have a 2014 3.8, that I want to run flush 18s on...preferably 9 or 9.5s (not staggered). I'm trying to determine what will definitively fit without rubbing. Will be retrofitting the Brembo brakes from the coupe. Any feedback, hopefully with photos? AND offsets? Thanks in advance.
