  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The silver paint on my factory grill was faded and old looking so I decided to strip it down to the bare chrome. I couldn't find any pictures of this being done before so I decided to share my pics. This is my 13 R spec sedan.

Sorry if anyone checks this out. Couldn't post the pics. There was a pop up saying that the file was too big, and I can't figure out how to add the pics or remove the thread.

Good chance you have some program on your computer that allows you to edit photos and save them in a smaller size. Irfanview is simple to use for that. Free too

Thank you for your advice. I was able to find an app that worked on my phoneIMG_20180903_163354115-2256x1874.webp

That looks pretty good. I'm going the other way. Wrapping my chrome trim in matte gray vinyl to match my wheels.

Thanks. I would love to see that when it's finished. I wondered what the car would like like with gunmetal or something similar

I've done the chrome in the front bumper and both lower door trim. Gotta figure out how to remove the rear bumper. Played around with the door handles too. A little tricky doing it on the car.

Also playing around with this grill.20170217_152910.webp

I love the matte dark gray...I would love to change my car to that on all of the chrome
probably wont happen but I am game if anyone wants to come to the Dallas area to try their skills on my car!

Could you explain how you did this? Looks really good.
Thanks I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I used 0000 steel wool and basically wet sanded it. A little elbow grease and time to remove the paint and that was it. I was careful not to press too hard so it wouldn't damage it. You may be able to use certain chemicals to remove it but I wasn't really sure what would work without damaging the grill.

Thanks. I may try it soon. Looks great.
