Which costco branch?I got my winter tires installed yesterday. Came in under $2K all-in. 2/3 the price as the package from Genesis, and with better tires.
The absence of the GV60 from their computer system gave the folks at Costco some heartburn.![]()
Good to know about the improved efficiency, I'm putting on my 18s by the end of the month and hoping to achieve the same result. What winter tires you got? I'm surprised your winter tires have lower tire noise, I got the X-ice so I will see how that performs once installed.A quick first drive to the office this morning on the new 18s.
I wasn’t paying close attention, but the ride feels a little smoother, and tire noise a little lower.
The 9km ride - with 50/50 highway/city distance - is certainly a very small sample size, but efficiency seems to be up a fair bit. Prior trips came in at 18-19 kwh per 100km, this morning was 16.4.
The car now looks like I should enter it into the Dakar Rally, the extra sidewall height is striking.
It could be that the original tire has the noise absorbing Foam.I took advantage of the long weekend and nice weather to put the winter wheels on the vehicles. I was struck by how much lighter the 18" combo is vs. the stock 21s.
The huge sidewall was also incredibly noticeable.
I’m running ”X-Ice Snow” tires. I suspect they may be the same as yours as I don’t believe they had the 18” size in the other X-Ice varieties.Good to know about the improved efficiency, I'm putting on my 18s by the end of the month and hoping to achieve the same result. LooneyAnother update… I took a long drive today and about half an hour in I got a “check TPMS system” error message that chimed every ten seconds or so and couldn’t be shut off.
The car was throwing errors for the TPMS system and all four tire sensors. I cleared the code, and it didn’t come back during the trip.
I’ll keep an eye on it, but the tire swap isn’t looking as easy as it initially appeared.
I have a code reader I could clear them with. I left it connected yesterday for a while while driving and the pressure and temp readings for all four tires did not budge. I suspect the batteries are dead.Looney
Any further update on the TPMS errors/situation? How were you able to clear the codes - you have a code reader or can you clear via car screen?
Love these! What was the brand of wheels. I can’t seem to find them here in the states and would worry that another brand might not clear the calipers. I tried to goggle CWAs I stated in an earlier post, I tend to go cheap with rims, but never sacrifice tire quality.
I went with a set of 18x8" CRW GT1 wheels with a 43.5 offset. Fit is excellent, they are hub-centric, and they weigh only 23lbs each.
I'll be going with a set of 255/55/18 Michelin X-Ice Snows. I'll pick them up whenever I see a sale.
I've never used studded tires. I'm not sure how I'd feel about the road noise. I also wonder how they'd impact rolling resistance and therefore, range.
You're better off to go do a wheel fit to ensure it is cleared. I did that with 2 different wheels/brands until I found one that is cleared, I think you need at least 40mm offset to be real safe.Love these! What was the brand of wheels. The TPMS issue will be resolved this weekend. I have new sensors and a TPMS tool arriving today. Only question is whether I can get my money back for the shoddy sensors now in the wheels.Wish the OEM wheels were black as well. Looking good there! Hope you can resolve the TPMS issue soon.
Wheels are here. I suspect they are sold under a number of different brand names.Love these! What was the brand of wheels. I can’t seem to find them here in the states and would worry that another brand might not clear the calipers. I tried to goggle CRW GT1 and could not find anything.
