  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2009 Genesis 4.6 White with Saddle Leather (Pic Heavy)

to each their own.

Do you mean Voice Navigation as it won't say street names?

I'm talking input and output. Both should be a part of an auto GPS system. You shouldn't have to look at the screen to input, or get data. This is the future and already available on Ford's Sync equipped vehicles. Once you've used a Sync system you realize how primitive it is to have to type commands. That is the kind of improvement that I would pay a premium for, over my Garmin or cell phone GPS system.

I didn't know the Sync was that good.
I should try playing around with it when I get a chance.

I'm confussed. When I use the Navigation I only use Voice Commands because it is waaay easier than looking at the screen and dealing with the knob. ...and when you use the voice command the first part of the information asked is "State", "City", "Street", "Number".

I still don't understand how anyone can choose the wood trim colors. Is there really a choice? and if so.....what's the realistic chance of getting the exterior/interior/wood combo of your choice? White with saddle is my choice as well, as I'm tired of owning a white exterior and black interior(shows too much dust).

There are three choices of "wood"trim, walnut, mahoney, and cherry - http://www.hyundaigenesis.com/sedan/#/trim_and_color/

Dealers are not aware of the options since they are not allowed to special order a car specifying options, color and/or trim. They receive what is sent to them.

Saddle interiors are difficult to find and when they appear at a dealership it is normally grabbed by a dealer principle for themselves, wife or friend.

My car black pearl, saddle interior and tech package is model #B0462.

"When Hyundai gets a voice activated system, on the level of Ford/Microsoft's "Sync", I'll reconsider. "

Mine is voice activated. You obviously didn't study your options.

"on the level of the Ford/Microsoft Sync system"

The Sync system is light years ahead of the Genesis tech package.

Ford and Microsoft have made the best combined media / phone integrated system on the market.

On a positive note, Hyundai/Kia forged a partnership with Microsoft so we can expect some real improvement in the future.

I got the white with black interior and love it. It seems the black interior comes with Walnut trim and the camel interior comes with mahogany. I really wanted the camel, but would have loved to get it with walnut. Couldn't get it.

man... nice ride i like all the badging i think that i have decided to do it, now.

whoever said beauty is skin deep must have fallen off his barstool and bumped his head!

Absolutely STUNNING!! You have excellent taste. ;) After a day of providing specialized training to a group of police officers, we went out to the parking lot behind the training center. They gravitated toward my Genesis asking the usual questions. They commented that the only thing I needed now was to tint my windows which they said looks great against the white. I think I might do it now.

The KDM wings rebadging looks really good!

Are the front and back wings the same size?

Are your wheel caps the expensive ones (around $250.00)?

Does the steering wheel have the wings which fit over the Flying H using tape?

One last question. Can I ask you where you bought your KDM wings and how much you paid?

thanks

I sent you a PM.

I noticed you have removed the rear Genesis 4.6 logo. First one I've seen like this looks cool. Do you get people you asking what kind of car it is? I don't know if you have tinted the windows yet, but I did on mine and it takes on a whole new look.

I just took the "Genesis 4.6" off before I took these pictures. Regardless, I still have people asking me what kind of car it was with all the nomenclature on it. I think removing the Genesis 4.6 give it more stealth! Although, I do wish there was something on it to let everyone know its got a BIG V8 in it! Oh well.

Wow, Ashdump, I wish I had found this page before. Don't know how I missed it, but these are great pix. The car looks great. I have always loved white cars. My last 5 were white in fact. This is my first black since 1960!

I was thinking of putting 303 on my dash but was afraid it might be too "Armor All" and shiny. I couldn't see yours because of the light. Is it rich looking without being too glossy?

Great car, great plate, good job!

Ron;)

303 has worked out great for me!!! The only gripe I have is my knee rubs off a small spot on the door which shows up against the rest. Other than that it really protects and looks great. It really brings out the black. I use a circle foam pad to apply it. I usually put two coats on over a weeks time, then let it be for at least a month.

I put some on with a microfiber towel but the results are a little streaky. I think I'll try your applicator method and see if it looks better...

Thanks so much, ASH. I'll be doing that this week. I have yet to do the entire interior. It was a very cold spring here. Now, of course, it's 97º

What do you use on the leather between the vinyl trim?

Ron

Hi Ron -

Check out this thread, it has a lot of good information in it. http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=4875

I only use 303 on the entire door including speaker cover, dashboard and lower knee areas. I use Lexol for the seats... The leather "band" that goes around the dash and doors gets 303. Its to difficult to used different products.

I can tell you why I didn't. It seemed to be a ridiculously high price to pay for what amounts to a built in GPS. The non tech already had USB, Ipod and auxiliary support as well as a decent built in bluetooth. I have a stand alone GPS and GPS navigation on my phone. I couldn't see dumping $3000 to get a third GPS built into the car. On top of that, then I'd have to buy the expensive GPS updates from Hyundai...when they become available. I bought lifetime GPS updates for my Garmin for less than half of a single update for the Genesis and Sprint Navigation downloads the latest maps, to my phone, real time.

When Hyundai gets a voice activated system, on the level of Ford/Microsoft's "Sync", I'll reconsider.
I don't know how it compares to Sync for voice control, but the DIS nav does have voice control and voice guidance. Personally, I think a well-designed touchscreen layout is more efficient than voice control, but that's just me.

But to say the Tech package amounts to a $3000 GPS is not accurate. The tech package includes DIS, which integrates all systems to the main screen including NAV and bluetooth. It also includes a rear backup camera, upgraded sound system, adaptive cruise control (2010 only), auto-cornering HID headlights, and electronic parking break with auto-hold.

Maybe you don't care about any of those either, but there's a lot more to the tech package than just an overpriced NAV. In fact I would argue the Tech Package is a bargain compared to how much you'd pay for equivalent options from most other manufacturers.
