  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2009 Genesis 4,6ltr Engine blown

Bought my Genesis new in 2010, joined the forum soon after, I had posted some issues at the very beginning but I hadn't posted anything since a very long time. I've had multiple issues some of them due to the vehicle but for the most part, issues with this vehicle have been induced by the incompetency of the dealer in servicing this model. Recently the technical advisor at my local dealership advised me that unfortunately the personnel at that dealership hadn't truly been trained to service the Genesis product line. I think that separating the Genesis range from the standard Hyundai product line and dealership network will be a welcome change, here in Canada that is.

Now to my actual reason of this post, driving on the highway yesterday afternoon, my check engine indicator came on, car started to vibrate, I first thought I had a problem with one of my tires, pulled off the highway as soon as I could, realized that one of my cylinders wasn't firing. stayed on a rural road to keep the rpm low and not cause havoc for the highway traffic. about 12km's later (+/- 8 miles) on the way to a garage, oil light came on, fluffing noise from engine, pulled off the road right away. Once stopped, noticed that oil all flushed out from bottom, result blown engine at 198000km or +/- 120000 miles. This car as always been serviced at the dealer, never missed regular oil change and was kept in pristine condition.

Have others experienced blown engine with the 4,6 litre motor?
Yes same problem
