The upload is 4 cd's and takes 4 hours without problems 9 with (as I found out today, tech pushed the wrong button and had to restart from scatch). Map database 4/30/10. It does seem snappier. Of course you have to reprogram all your phone and local nav stuff. It is 'free' though...

I looked over the procedure that is outlined for the installation of the disks and it has to be the most outlandish and error prone set of instructions I have ever seen. How someone could come up with such a procedure is beyond me. I think that I will wait for a couple of months before I go in for my update. I don't want to be the first one in for their attempt.

I hope they don't leave my engine on for 3-4 hours! I will ask that they use a charger to supply the power if possible. It can't be good for the engine to have it idle that long, in such hot weather as we are having.

Your right about us old guys. I have had in dash GPS since 2001, and they are all a little bit better. Where I go I have usually been there before, Florida California, north, south. The changes are there, some are shown and some are not, but its still the same interstate and so Im most interested in distance to run etc. This car is better than my old Lexus and the GPS is a little better, its all out of date if its been in use a while. Its all good.
