  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The 2010 Genesis Sedan must be coming soon (June?), since it has been almost a year since the 2009 Genesis Sedans introduction in the US. I have heard from a reliable source at a Hyundai dealership that the 2010 models will almost certainly have the Adaptive Cruise Control feature. I have read on this Forum from Mark_888 that the suspension tweaks will also almost certainly be coming from the factory.

I've been looking to buy a Genesis 2009 for several months. I have test driven it many times and love it in both the 3.8 and the 4.6 though I am going to buy the 4.6 w/Tech Pkg. I was having a hard time finding the color combo I want in this region (Central) - Sterling Blue with Black interior. I was going to order it but at this point it makes sense to wait a month or two and either buy the 2010 if the new features warrant the premium (I assume they will charge at least 1% more in the MSRP) or get a better deal on a 2009 and not worry so much about the color :).

Anyone hear anything regarding when the 2010's will be showing up and what the changes will be from the 2009? Pricing? New color choices? New features in the DIS? etc.. I hope they don't change anything with regard to the styling because I think the car looks awesome as it is.

I was told (at the same time that I heard about the the suspension tweaks) that the 2010 Genesis will have the following "Tech options":

- smart cruise control (active braking)
- lane departure warning system

That was awhile ago, so I don't know whether they actually made the 2010 or not, nor do I know when it is coming. Sheet metal changes seem unlikely so soon after initial introduction, unless there is a problem they are trying to fix. Could have new wheels, as that seems often happen on many cars even when everything else is the same.

I touched base with a local dealer today, he said there wasn't any official announcement, but if you go from last year, the Genesis was announced June, but didn't hit the dealerships till late summer.

You could probably expect the same on the 10's.

Also, you might see an eight speed auto, instead of the current 6.

That's right - I wonder if that 8-speed will be available.. If ANY exterior changes come about - it'll likely be light changes to the grill. That's just my opinion, however.. I also have a feeling that we won't see the 2010 Genesis Sedan until September / October or so...

The 8-speed ZF would be a very nice addition especially if it helps increase the already great V8 mileage.

On the September / October timeframe, all I can say is that this person knows he would have been able to sell me a 2009 today if the 2010s were that far off. It wouldn't be in his best interest to tell me they were coming sooner rather than later if he didn't know the answer or have some good information, but that doesn't mean he can't be wrong or have extremely optimistic information. Of course, if I wait until June and they don't show up I will only be a few months away (again).

This is just my personal opinion but I would trade the 8-speed, smart cruise control, and lane departure system for a trunk that would open completely via the key fob and steering that isn't so sensitive to the crowning of the road. Again, just my two cents.

The rumors about the 8-speed are based on a Hyundai built transmission, and it is not expected on the Genesis in 2010. It will probably show up first on the Equus and then later on the Genesis.

Agreed. The 2009 was launched early, all other model years will occur at their normal time which is very late Summer/early Fall.

My guess on changes based on what's been said so far:

8 speed auto (V8)
Boost in HP to around 400 (V8)
Slightly retuned suspension (V6/V8)
Availability of Adaptive Cruise Control (V6/V8)

We need better color options....

A green of some sort would be nice, but other than that, the color choices seem fine to me. Definitely on par w/ most of the competition.

Fan of pink? :p

If I was selling Mary Kay, then Yessssssssssssssssssssssss!!!! :D

Seriously though, I had written more but lost it in an glitch when posted. Anyway, my rather 'uninsightful' comments were:

I find the White Pearl to be more white. I'd prefer the White Pearl like GM's. The Silver, Black, Burgundy are just common colors. The Dark Blue is ok but I'm not wanting another dark color to maintain. The Platinum Gray should be a shade darker IMO. The only one that has tempted me to look at it is the lighter blue. Maybe because it's different or maybe it's because the other colors don't give me the WOW factor. Now if they give the White Pearl more pearl, that would be my first choice, a shade darker on the Platinum would be my second choice.

I don't think we'll see any change in the V8. Since Hyundai doesn't have any more powerful engines in development, they'll need something bigger & better for the Equus' NA entry. That's when we'll see a boost in the V8 -- but it won't be in the Genesis.

Well, didn't Hyundai mention a DI V8 prior to this 8 speed tranny news? Or will it be a conjunction offering? I'd take the DI over the 8 spd tranny.

Its not a rumor, its confirmed. It's 100% Hyundai design.

You misunderstood my post. I agree that the 8-speed is a Hyundai design. The rumors are about when it will be available. My information was (no guarantees that my info is correct) that it would be available in Equus first, and then later in Genesis (not 2010, maybe not even 2011).

Why are you so sure the Equus will get the 8-speed auto first? You do realize the V8 Genesis isn't even sold in it's home market and the Equus is not sold here. In other words, they don't compete with one another. I see no reason why the Genesis can't/wouldn't get the 8-speed first. Same goes for the HP boost.

I am going strictly by an automotive news story that said the Hyundai designed 8-speed transmission would probably show up first on Equus and then later on Genesis. I think a link was posted somewhere on this forum maybe a couple of months ago. As I said in my previous post above, "no guarantees that my info is correct" so at no time did I say that I was sure it would happen that way (other than I am sure I read that in a news report).

I never said anything one way or another about a HP boost.

After Goggling various automotive news stories, the recent stories say the Genesis will get the 8-speed in the 2011 model. Some of the older stories published last year say 2010.
