  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2010 Genesis Sedan Discussion

I'm sure that Hyundai will offer the 8-Speed Auto just as soon as it is ready. Since it is their own design and manufacture you have to assume they can build it for less money and right now they are purchasing transmissions from ZF (V8) and Aisin (V6).

Still... it's their first in house tranny. I personally wouldn't jump on a new product like that without it having some reliability/credibility behind it. Yeah, yeah... 100k warranty. Still not a headache I'm willing to deal with when buying a new car. But... that's just me.

Same with me. The Aisan transmission was a big factor in my willingness to buy a Hyundai.

The V8's ZF transmission and it's heritage in the German luxury cars is exciting. I feel like I will be getting many of the same parts as on a Mercedes or BMW for a ridiculously low price in a package every bit as classy.

It's not their first in-house transmission, it's their first in-house 8-speed transmission.
