If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2010 Genesis Shut Down in Traffic (YIKES!)

Got the car back the next day as promised. The fix was to replace the throttle body actuator (as a warranty repair). All is well now.

Glad to hear it. Mine is currently at the Dealership being well-cared for by Tony the Service Manager. I got a loaner Santa Fe and it makes me appreciate the Genesis all the more :). Sounds like they might be keeping the car for today since they are chasing some grounding issues. It makes perfect sense to me if the system shuts off by itself and gets stuck in 6th gear it's some electrical issues. Plus the lights would flicker for no apparent reason.

I will update here with more information once it becomes available on the fix.

UPDATE: Hyundai is replacing the TRANSMISSION on my 2010 Genesis Sedan 4.6 Tech that I purchased less than a month ago (11/10) as a result of diagnosing errors that are present in the car. It has a little over 2500 miles on it. On 11/13 the engine shut down in traffic but no errors were found when checked at the dealership on 11/14. On 11/29 it got stuck in 6th gear and refused to shift until the car was restarted. I took it to the dealership on 12/1 where it is now sitting outside waiting for a transmission to arrive.

In the meantime, I am driving a loaner 2009 V8 (non-tech) but had to suffer through a couple days of driving a Santa Fe.

I'm paying particular attention to the suspension of the 2009, but haven't noticed anything that makes me think "gee, I am glad I waited and bought the 2010", that's only after a day and 1/2 of driving though.

Re: 2010 Genesis Shut Down in Traffic (YIKES!) Pugi and Hyundai ROCK!!

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
As a result of several minor glitches, AFLS issue, seat issue, and one MAJOR one (the transmission being replaced) Dave Novak at Pugi Hyundai in Downers Grove, IL and John Belcher Midwest Parts and Service Delivery Manager for Hyundai supported my request for and delivered a replacement 2010 Genesis.

I received the new replacement 2010 Sterling Blue Genesis 4.6 with wing badge on the back and wing badges on the wheels last week 3/10/2010 and swapped it out with the car I had purchased on 11/10/2009, which had 10,548 miles on it. This was all at NO COST TO ME - I even got a check for tinting the windows on this car similar to my previous Genesis and they extended the XM trial subscription for a year!!

Hyundai did the right thing, but I can't tell you how refreshing it is for me to know that I choose the RIGHT dealership to buy the RIGHT car from, and I must say THANKS AGAIN to BackToHyundaiByChoice for recommending Pugi and Dave Novak in particular including the phone number in his post many months ago (1-630-964-9500 x 218). It's always nice to know who to ask for when you call.

I'm just as excited about the new car as I was when I first got my other Genesis. It feels spectacular, may be my imagination, but it seems quieter, and the navigation is faster, which is probably due to the navigation software upgrade. The drivers seat is definitely more comfortable given that was an area of concern previously.

Hyundai just proved to me in a big way that quality is expected in their products and they are willing to ensure their customers satisfaction. Heck, they did even better than that, they went above and beyond any reasonable expectations and the whole process was very smooth and friendly! That's what I would call momentum!

Way to go!! What a dealership - I'm glad you had such a pleasant experience! :)

I've had similar issues with my 09 V8 Tech - It's been out of service for nearly 2 months now. We'll see if Hyundai is willing to do anything soon...

That Sterling Blue must be a rare color. I've never seen on on the road, however a couple weeks ago, there was a used 09 sitting in my dealers back lot, with writing on the windows. The dealer told me that it did not belong to them and that it was to be checked, before it went to the auction. On my last visit, it was no longer there. I asked my Genesis Technician if he had checked the car before it went to the auction, and he said no, he had not. (Nobody knows why that car was at the dealer, other than it did not belong to the dealer) Beautiful car and color. It had the Winged Emblems front and rear, and some very tastefull gold pinstriping with PAINT, not tape. I keep looking in AutoTrader to see what dealer bought it as I would love to see about buying it.

It is rare. I waited a little over two and 1/2 months for the replacement car, and it came fresh from the factory. Dave called me as soon as he had a build number. It was built in January. My new car was sitting at the dealership a couple days until I could pick it up, as a result Dave has had several requests for Sterling Blue and it's always an Easter Egg hunt since there are not that many. I was set on Titanium Silver until I saw this color in person (it was a V6) on a dealers lot and decided it was the color I wanted. I get a lot of compliments on my color choice and everyone thinks its a Mercedes or Bentley - though I am quick to proudly say it's a Hyundai.

That is good te hear, especially since it was such odd behavior. Pugi has a good national reputation, so this adds to it.

As for Sterling Blue, I had a hard time finding mine when I was looking - it had to be shipped in from another state. Obviously, I love the color. Titanium Grey was my second option, btw - also a great color.
