If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Re: 2010 Nav Map Update (touchscreen) Completed

Well I ordered the V5 N American map update for my 2010 Genesis. Arrive in two days and came as 2 dvds and 1 usb memory stick. *6H01/6H02*

There seems to be many upgrades to the whole navagation interface in the new release. Much more user friendly. Its not only a map update, but has some bluetooth changes (phone contacts) and some screen changes.

Not an easy task. Mnsoft doesn't tell you that it takes two authorization codes to come from V1 to V5 and use the USB. But call and they give you the second code after techs generate the additional number.

Using first Auth. code My first dvd (orange) crashed midway and had an error message. Restarted and it ran all the way (about 90 mins). Note, car in acc setting will shut down the radio and lights before update ends.....I just hit the start button once and all came back and it picked up from there. Once done, you go on to the second dvd, (yellow) and will need the second authorization code. The yellow dvd takes a short time (15 mins) to install and make changes to system for going to the USB. Now you are ready for the USB install.......THIS TAKES THE FIRST AUTHORIZATION CODE......For some reason once code was entered, all graphics remained on screen BUT NO LETTERING! Using the instructions you can figure out the location of keys from the orange dvd install pictures. The USB takes a bit longer than the orange dvd (130 mins). Thats it....its done.

Haven't been through it all, but Some better graphics, relocation of of things on screen, etc.

They warn that all information will be lost in upgrade. Only my XM channels went bye-bye. All nav. favorites, prior locations, etc. stayed. Phone pairing remained and some new bluetooth options are available (contacts).

only one evening of use, but it looks like many complaints from first touch nav have been corrected.

I wish the outside temp would remain displayed, but that didn't change.

I needed 3 calls to the 800 number, quick response and assistance. Overall took from 1:00-4:30 to get it done, with telephone support.
Good Luck.

Interesting. Thanks for posting.

I have a 2010 v6 premium with 7" touch screen. Does this post pertain to this model. The reason I ask is the part about the temperature. does my car show the temperature somewhere?? I didn't know that.
Also how much did the update cost.

thanks

Yes, I have the 2010 Genesis 3.8 with touch screen navigation also. Only touch screen models can be done by the owner. DIS must be done at dealer.

Temperature, inside and out, is shown in the upper most area of the display...for a short time after hitting the AUTO button, or any air button, even a temperature change.

Its $99 + $10 for the USB media.
