  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I hope no one else here has had this problem!

While genny was in for 60k service, i though it would be a good idea to have them update the nav system.

First time around, they updated it to map version 4 and gave it back to me. Knowing that the most recent maps should show version 8, i took it back to have them actually give me the current system.

That's not even the fun part... 8 DAYS LATER, they still have my car and cannot seem to get it updated to the most recent maps. Keeps crashing on them.

I'm done with all of this and told them to put on the v4 version that worked and give me my car back!

Anyone else have so much trouble?!?

My situation was a bit different but I didn't have the problems you describe.

When I took delivery of my 2012 R-spec the map was one version too early. I think it was due to the car being built right as the new map was being released and somehow they missed the update.

Anyway, when I discovered the error I took it back to the dealer and they updated the maps without an issue. It is an exceedingly long process (mine took something like four hours and required one restart) and they have to have the nav system powered up the whole time. My dealer used a battery charger but I have hear of some dealers actually idling the car engine the whole time. If the power glitches during the update it must be restarted. They should have contacted the map authors with a description of the failure and gotten some direction from them. It should not take anywhere near as long to update a map. Other vendors do it with way less time and trouble.
