  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2010 vs. 2011 V8 questions - which car to buy?

I have 2 quick questions:

1. Are there any suspension improvements/benefits on the 2011 V8 vs. 2010 V8?

2. I can buy a 2010 V8, single owner prestine condition with 9k miles for $28,500 or a 2011 V8 new (demo) with 3k miles for $32,000. Which would you suggest?

I appreciate everyone's help!

How many miles on the 2010? I don't believe the suspension changed from the 2010 model until the 2012 model came out.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
they should be identical cars.
if the miles are low on the 2010, get that.

the 2011 has better headlights and smart cruise control. Also the 2011 V8 in 2011 came standard with all options and tech pkg. the 2010 V8 options were add ons. So compare the cars very closely. For sure the cruise control is not the same, the 2011 has large black areas left and right just under the front grill which is the radar for the smart cruise. The headlights in 2011 are also zeon self leveling and point in the direction of a turn when going around a corner.

The 2009 and 2010, as well as the 2011 headlights for the V8 all are self leveling with auto cornering HID lights (2009 had to have tech pack).

And I believe the 2011's got an updated color LCD display (in the instrument cluster, not the nav screen).

And depending on the build date, possibly an additional 10HP (with premium).

So everyone verdict on which year to buy is?

I appreciate everyone's input thus far!

What warranties are we looking at here? Seems like the 2010 will have a short warranty period left, while the 2011 might be Certified, and come with a longer warranty period. Then again, the '11 is a demo............. who knows how that was treated, whereas the '10 sounds like someone loved her.

There's virtually no difference between the two models, but the difference is in the details...

There are actually 2-2010's I am looking at.
1 has a 4.5yr, 50k "bunper to bumper" left on the warranty. The other has 3.9 year, 50k "bunper to bumper" left on the warranty.

I am being told the new vehicle is not a dealer demo but driven by a Hyundai District Rep. It has 3k miles on it.

I picked up the 2010 Titanium Gray 4.6 yesterday. All I can say is WOW, what a ride! By far the best stereo I have ever owned. Great power train. Once I replace the Dunlop's, the tire whine/hum will be gone.

1 question - while driving on the highway for 4 hours, I had the stereo just turn off, then turn back off, kind of a re-boot. Is this normal?

Thanks again for everyone's help and input on my quest to own a Genesis! I can now change my tag to drives a genesis!

Congrats and enjoy. Some folks have experienced a similar problem with stereo but not sure if was something that was one off or was serious enough to have head unit replaced.

Congratulations! I just changed my tag yesterday as well :)

Your Dunlops whine? My dunlops with about 6k miles on them are one of the quietest tires i have ever heard. i thought it was some good soundproofing in the car of something, but i put on new Nokian winter tires on a couple months back and those things howl like crazy, way louder than the Dunlops, which were pretty much silent.

And i've had the stereo reboot, probably had it twice or 3 times in the couple months i've owned the car, happens when it starts up, but always works afterwards.

congrats and enjoy your new car
