  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

On Monday, 3/9/15, I drove my 2011 Genesis with 61,000 miles over 200 miles. I refueled that evening when it had about a 1/4 of a tank. Went to the same station I have used for 18 years. Tuesday I drove about 20 miles before meeting my wife for lunch, the car ran super. Came out and the car would not start, engine turned over but would not catch. Had the car towed to the dealer and was told the gas pump was bad and a new one had to be ordered (over $400, thank God for my extended warranty). They replaced the pump and it still would not start so they told me there was water in the tank. This tank was a full tank with only 20 miles driven. They said they have a sample and I need to contact the gas station. They said if they reported this to the extended warranty company they would not cover the fuel pump. I was told that they had to drop the fuel tank and my portion of the bill was up over $500 so far and it still doesn't start. I did contact the gas station and they said there were no other complaints, my wife had filled our pick up the same morning at the same station and no problems. I contacted the Dept. of Agriculture (FL) and they sent a tech out who verified there was no problem at the gas station and no other complaints were received. As I had to take another long trip, the dealer got me a rental car on Thursday to return Friday. Friday the dealership called and said they replaced the spark plugs and needed to get a new fuel sending unit and to keep the rental until it is done on Monday 3/16/15. Obviously there was no problem with the gas. This car ran beautifully until it wouldn't start. Three weeks before, a check engine light came on and the dealer reset it but never said why it came on. It appears the dealer does not know what is wrong and is now replacing everything!! We love our Genesis and our family has bought 5 Hyundais from this dealership over the past 11 years. Any suggestions???

The check engine light came on for a reason. What was the code information from the check engine light? Have you had past maintenance done per the manual ? = 1. Fuel Tank air filter replaced and 2. fuel filter replaced.

They never told us what the code was and we were getting ready for a road trip. The car has been 100% serviced by the dealership including all oil changes and scheduled maintenance. The car is 4 years old but looks new inside and out.

Many Hyundai dealerships don't do the fuel air filter and fuel filter service. They say its not necessary even though its listed as a necessary service in the manual. I have had to specifically request it every time and I have over 150,000 miles on my 2011 4.6 Genesis. The dealer techs just don't get the training necessary to work on the Genesis.
