  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yesterday my dealership in Winter Park, FL. received their shipment of 2011 Genesis Sedans. Good news is their out....bad news is that no changes at all have been made from 2010 to 2011 line-up. Here are the Window Stickers and a few pictures of the cars. It was already 100 degrees outside when I was taking these pictures I will add more soon. Please feel free to move this post to whatever section is appropriate...thanks and enjoy

Yes it stinks that all the rumors of what was to come is not true, but I do have some insider information that the pictures of the center dash etc... that have been floating around the web are actually the of the new Hyundai Equus for the American Market. I'm not sure if that is true or not but the customer relations manager of the dealership was nice enough to let me go look at the new cars even though they are not yet available for purchase so I doubt she would have any reason to give me false information. I really was hoping that the pictures that had been going around were of the 2011 Genesis but this proves that nothing has changed for the upcoming year, unless it is some sort of underpinning/suspension or other minor tweaks to the cars performance.

Maybe some nice changes will happen in 2012...we will just have to sit back and wait at this point.

I see no changes- hey I'm pleased as my 2009 looks like a new 2011!

Thanks for the post and message.

Actually, I don't think it's bad news that there aren't any changes. I liked the 2010 just fine. I was waiting for the 2011, mostly for any problem fixes that were discovered in the 2010.

Actually- my keen eye notices something- on the steering wheel- last picture, top right hand button (on left side because wheel is rotated 180 degrees) looks to have a rear camera activation button?

I think you're referring to the button that sets the vehicle-to-vehicle distance for the smart cruise control.

You are right- I don't have on my '09

As expected, no changes.
Face lift will be next model year.

Any idea if the 2011 have the "Mood" lighting?

Mood Lighting?

Do you mean will it have the LED lights in it as it does in the 2010 models? If that is your question then I would imagine that it will be exactly the same. The LED lights are bright and illuminate the interior of the car really well, plus it seems to be very easy going on the eyes. I have had passengers keep them on for extended periods of time while I'm driving and they do not bother my eyes at all in comparison to some of the older style lights I have had in other cars.

Yeah, I didn't think they would do much for this model year...but I was hoping for some general tweaks to the systems already in place like the Navigation, Voice recognition, Radar Cruise control etc... Systems like that are always in need of some improvements. At times the radar cruise control seems a bit "jumpy" to me, like it wants to brake to hard when a vehicle passes you and isn't even cutting over into your lane. I might need to have it checked for alignment vs. the road or something, guess I'll do that today while it's in for a scheduled service.

Things I wish they would improve on are the navigation system; to include spoken street names...if a $149 Garmin or TomTom is capable of doing it then there is no reason a Navi system costing over 10x the $$ shouldn't be capable of the same. The Tech Package based Navigation system also has a 40GB Hard Drive on-board, it would be nice to see them use a small portion of the drive to buffer your XM/Sat Radio. My XM cuts out even with the smallest overhead obstructions, let the Hard Drive provide a 1-2 minute buffer which would equate to maybe 200MB of space on the drive being used at most. I'm not sure what the entire 40GB drive is doing, but for the navigational software at most it's using 6-8GB of that space, and maybe the Driver's Informational Center is using another 5GB. Why not open up 10-15GB of that space to the customer for music like the Cadillac and Ford HD based systems do?

I'm not complaining, far from it....I just think these would be nice features to add on to what is already a great car. I had put in the suggestion of the XM radio to Hyundai's customer relations department but never got any sort of reply back. Out of all the cars I have owned the Genesis has been overall #1 in my book. Can it use some general improvements...Yes....but that could be said of any vehicle most of us have ever driven. Even exotics and "luxury" cars costing 3-4x that of ours wind up going in for repairs for one thing or another. If I could pick one car that I thought was a close to perfect as could be it would have been my Cadillac STS, and even still it had to go in for an extended service stay a couple times.

Thanks Scottdk :)....missed that post....would be kinda neat I guess hehe.

Yeah, I'm a little jealous myself, and would like special lighting in my Genesis, but I didn't get that lucky.:)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I will be visiting Seoul at the end of the year. I will look to see if I can find a direct replacement for the mood lighting.

Another year for my 2009 to look just like the newer models, save for my basic modifications. That's cool by me.

I want one too! If you can find out the price and ping me here, I'll respond within 6 or so hours, tops (I get the e-mails to my phone) and paypal the cash then:)

Yeah, my 2009 is looking good right about now!!

If you find out any information about this ck2118 please let us know. It's something I would like to have done to my vehicle. I think it adds a nice touch to the interior ambiance.....thanks :). I popped the cover on mine today and it looks like it might already be pre-wired for this feature but not included in the U.S. version for whatever reason.

On a side note, the 2010 Map Software Update is now available from your dealer. They have to log into the "dealer" portion of the MapNSoft website and order the DVD's needed to do the installation. My dealer just placed the order for mine today and it can take from 1-2 weeks for delivery of the software. This install/update can take up to 3 hours according to the paperwork they have been provided with so make sure you have the time when going in to sit around. It's cost is $99.99 to the consumer plus tax.

When he was going through all the sub menu's in the Drivers Information System that we don't have access to there is literally 30+ additional options to change settings involving the navigation and other features of the DVD playback system. There was a TV Tuner menu, a menu for lighting (not sure what it was referring to) but I think it might be for the DVD/Navigation screens brightness setting, a menu for other auxiliary functions and a whole lot more. He had to enter some code while in the phone dial pad menu to access this subset of additional menu items. I saw him push in 4-5 numbers followed by the # symbol and hit enter, but I couldn't see those numbers clear enough to say what they were.

I'm going to try to sucker them out of the service tech who was standing there when he did it...heck I'll slide him a Benny to get access to that wealth of additional settings....knowing my luck I'll change something though and my car will turn into a Robot ...wait a minute....that would be so freaking cool lol :D

If you do talk to the service tech, see if you can find out if there is any way to suppress the annoying start up warning message on the DIS screen!
