  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2011 Genesis vs. 2011 Chrysler 300c

after watching that video it just reaffirms my decision to go with this car. the 300 is so yesterday. it looks dated even though it is brand new and worse is i think the last nose was better looking than this one.. if hyundai would just put the WINGS on the Genesis i think it would sell a 1/3 more as the front looks so strange with nothing on there. what's the point if you're putting the stupid Accent's "H" on the rear anyway put something on the front.

The point (at least initially when the Genesis was first imported to the USA) is to build Hyundai brand recognition and respect. Hyundai is still trying to recover from its disastrous USA introduction in the 1980's. You would be surprised by the number of people shopping for a Camry or Accord who will not even look at a Sonata during their car shopping (although that is changing quickly).

Same applies to the "Hyundai" Equus, which is probably a money loosing proposition in the USA at this point.

I think some of you missed something important. That was a CHRYSLER video reviewing their product vs. the Hyundai.

I agree with your statement with one change: That was a CHRYSLER video promoting their product vs. the Hyundai.

I hate to get into inter-brand pissing contests.

That said, the comments about the Genesis' ride are not off the mark--the truth hurts. It is probably the biggest beef I have so far with now approaching 8k miles on my 11 4.6. I would very much appreciate the Hyundai engineers really hammering on this.

HOWEVAH, as I too had a new 300 as a rental when my Genesis got hit, I found it to be a tank. Smooth floaty ride, certainly better than the Genesis in some dimensions, but it's just a damn M1A1 Abrams in every other regard and the fit and finish are horrible...classic Chrysler plasticky, and I had an upgraded one.

I will give the Chrysler people credit though--the remote start and the seats are a bonus over the Genesis.

I have a 2012 300 as rental now and yes the ride is good but that is it. The 300 v6 engine sounds are obtrusive, the exhaust sound is horrible, the fit/finish, paint, and materials are all sub-par. The fake dual exhaust is a joke with fake tail pipes. Not much chrome, just silver paint where chrome should be used. Headlight clear lens is so thin a small rock will do a lot of damage(I can push it in with my finger)
