  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Since the web reports show the 2012 V6 does 0-60 anywhere from 5.4 seconds to 6.4 seconds, I've been anxious to see what I could actually pull off on my own as a person with no racing experience.

I did about 8 runs, but only 2 of them were worthy of posting due to the difficulty in getting a clean launch and gear changes. Man, this car has a ton of torque compared to my 4-cylinder (obviously). You have work the throttle gingerly at certain points or you just spin the wheels during launch and gear changes, which causes the ESC to kill the power.

I also could not get the car to launch or shift smoothly with the ESC off (just pressing the button). I've heard others state that even with it off, the ESC will still intrude abruptly. This is completely true - with the ESC off, power would unequivocally cut out completely during a hard launch and from the 1-2 gear change.

I have no doubt that if I were to completely disable the ESC, my 0-60 would go down to the mid-low to mid 5's. Right now, my best is around 5.8 seconds.

Not bad at all. What I know the debate between the 2012 3.8 and 2010 4.6 has been in the air. So i did a 0-60 in my 2010 4.6 and got 4 runs from 5.27-5.35sec via an MSD Dashhawk which is probably one of the most accurate things out next to an actual track. I believe they are accurate within +/-0.1sec. The 1st run i got 7.10sec, i guess i was very use to awd:D I was quickly reminded that i was in a rwd vehicle as i got sideways and spun thru gears. Lord knows i miss nearly 500hp awd:(

That's what kept happening to me when I floored it with the ESC off! My back end would start to come around and then the ESC would kill the power. Same thing when shifting from first to second. I ended up leaving the ESC on and just leaving it in the manual shift mode so it would shift itself at the red line.

I definitely think there are a couple more tenths to shave off if I could just get a better hang of controlling the wheel spins with the stability control off.

I have 245 Conti DWS on the car and there is no going sideways and no cutting power from get go. Assuming the temperatures stay above 40 F. Any colder and I can spin tires going 10mph or 70mph.

Well it was definitely well below 40 F. I have the Michelin Primacy tires, which I know to be very sticky so I'm not thinking that's the issue. Probably the temperature as you mention. I'll have to try these tests again during the spring.

I managed to get some good grip feathering the throttle up a little. Still got a little spin which the computer cant compensate for so i could easily see a 4.6 doing 5sec flat. Im not sure what my DA etc was but it was about 80deg outsde. Wouldnt surprise me if one can get under 5sec, sometimes there are motors out of a batch that seem to over achieve what they are supposed to. Saw it alot in the vehicles i came from to a genesis

5.27s to 60mph is consistent with the 5.3s it took Car and Driver to get to 60 in their extra long term Genesis. The tests were pretty consistent from new to 100,000 miles. I wonder if anyone has actually taken their Genesis to the drag strip.
