They did a computer update for the transmission the other day. So far so good.
The new transmission has been installed today; July 5th. The Genesis drives like she was new! Lots of pep.
The standard transferable warranty is 5 years or 60K miles (which ever comes first). The extended powertrain warranty is 10 years or 100K miles (which ever comes first), but only for the original owner, unless the used car was as a CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) vehicle sold by a Hyundai dealer that extends the powertrain warranty to subsequent owners also.I've got the exact same issue on my 2012 3.8L at 88,000. I bought the car used from a dealer about two years ago. I'm assuming I have no warranty but to be honest have no idea if a Hyundai factory warranty may transfer, or if it would have been 100K. Since it seems that I'm definitely going to need a new transmission does anyone know if there's a chance I have a warranty? Or has anyone had to do the transmission on your own dime, and what it cost?
If you have this issue you need a new transmission...... Apparently there is an issue with a ring that breaks...
My car is in the shop now getting a rebuilt transmission put in....It was out of warranty....
mine is doing the same thing !Hello all, I'm looking for some help regarding a dangerous (albeit intermittent) issue I'm having with my 2012 3.8 v6 sedan.
A few months ago, I started noticing an issue in which the transmission would not shift smoothly to the next gear at around 25mph. Originally, it only seemed to have issues when it rained, but now it seems to happen regardless of weather conditions. I don't think this is related to the general lack of smoothness in shifting that I've read about on the forums here.
Typically, the transmission will shift smooth enough for a few days, but then shifting gets progressively more rough over a couple days until the car shudders to the point that it's physically painful. After that, it seems to return to normal for a few days, thus restarting the vicious circle. I did notice that the car will sometimes hit 3500 RPM before it finally engages the next gear (2nd or 3rd?)
I've taken it to the dealership twice, but they have been "unable to duplicate the issue" both times. (Bob Howard Hyundai, South OKC) - Most of the time their service is solid, so I don't think they're being malicious in saying they can't duplicate the issue.
Anyone have any recommendations/ideas?
I have the exact same thing with my 2012 genesis, I bought mine from a private party so the warranty does not follow the car but I bought warranty with my bank except the dealership can not reproduce the problem and then no warranty is any good! it does it for a few weeks then drives nice, it is just a viscous cycle with no relief! wrote corporate and there is nothing they can do! Their suggestion is I try to make an appt and guess when I think the car will be having problems again since the dealership can only make appts a month out!The transmission is dangerous in these years cars so I guess I'm going to pay a dealership to trade my car in but never another Hyundai I'll give my money to a chevy dealership just so I dont give it to Hyundai!mine is doing the same thing !
driving down the road it it goes into a false neutral rev's up to about 4000 rpm then slams into the next gear.
