  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012 Genesis 3.8 Check Engine @ 6,000

I have had the same problem and the solution was to replace the Charcoal cannister and filter. It seems that when some of the cars were shipped from the factory that the charcoal in the charcoal cannister was cracked and over time the charcoal came lose and clogged the filter and blocked the sensors. Thus the check engine light kept coming on. It seems to be solved on my 2012 Genesis Sedan V6. Keith Hawthorne Hyundai came up with solution.

well, the car is at the dealership now, on the way back a tow truck ripped the front bumper off my brothers Civic, while I was driving it no less.

If we owned this car the next mod would be a truck horn as misalligned 50W HID headlights were apparently not bright enough to let the guy know it wasn't an empty space...

Well, after three visits to the dealer, I think it's resolved. They kept it for three days with a loaner car provided.

They replaced a valve.

well, 1st visit and the check engine light is back on in under 15mi.

Code P2422, resistance below specs.

Replaced valve canister vent, cleared DTC

Part # 31430-3M000 (Valve Canister CL).

Cost: $0
Value to customer: $0

Plus all the transit cost back n forth, train, gas, time wasted, and of course time without car.

They are getting the car back tomorrow...

took the car to them this morning and got it back, drove it around and as soon as the clock hit 6pm (dealer closing time) the check engine came roaring back.

I have no idea what they did, I was told they test drove it, I hope they enjoyed that, but the car is going back again.

two days driving after the last dealer visit and I think I'm good now.

This time they wrote out all the steps :)

Tech Using GDS
SCM be DTC
Recieving history
code P2427
Call tech line (hyundai) and opened case

was informed to blow out system from spider webs (means mesh in Hyundanese)
clear system installed hoses
let car sit to below temp so car can do evap test
no engine light
road test vehicle (they joy rode for about 8 miles, I tripped them)

So, hopefully that's the end of my story and it helps someone in a similar situation.

So what does this really mean? What system?

I'm guessing whatever the system the canister was connected to. I assume it's got hoses or pipes going in and out.

added another 150 miles today, the light stayed off. I think this fixed it.
