  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012 instrument cluster in a 2011?

I was more interested in the law(s) regarding odometers, rather than your opinions on it. Anybody who tampers with an odometer without following the law is setting himself up for a future problem. It’s best to know the law.
I plan on keeping this car forever so im not worried about all that

I got it, seamless installation took less then 15mins. It was definitely worth it. Thanks for clearing it up for me to be able to pull the trigger on it. Picked it up for $75 shipped.

I am very interested in doing this, do you have to swap entire instrument cluster or can you just do the display?

Looking on ebay, how do you know it's the upgraded cluster? All the pictures are of the cluster out of the vehicle and you can't tell what your getting.

Is there a particular part #? Thanks for any info

Not sure if possible to do the just a internal swap as I was going to do so but I just stuck to swapping the entire cluster it was easier and just used my old front cover as it was in better condition.
There is a part number you can go by, it slightly varies I think by year 09-11 - 12-14
It’s best to use the images and description on eBay as that’s how I managed to narrow mine down. I looked up part number and all but can’t remember at the moment.

Bumping this ages old thread.

I've done a cluster swap from 2013 into my 2009, with much inspiration taken from gearM's report on drive2. What you need to get a color screen is 2012+ cluster from a tech package sedan.
Getting to the cluster was really easy, just follow the "Cluster Facia Replacement" instructions from pt 12 of the service manual. Some electrical tape had been used to cover up the electronic brake and LDWS lights :). Shame the cruise lights don't work anymore, but the cruise control is functional nonetheless. The blinker is also too quiet now, but that's something I can live with.

Big fan of welcome/goodbye chimes, so Korean. Love the new graphics on the color screen. They're way more readable now thanks to the icons. The biggest upside so far is the mad auto mechanic clout I get in my circles now :)
