If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. i was wondering if anyone has taken 2012 r-spec headlights and put them in a 2009 Genesis? I have spoke to the dealer and it appears that they would fit and they think also - now converting to HID would be easy - but does anyone know if this would work with electrical harness??

Any advise suggestions would be helpful

Love my 2009 Genesis and just want to update it a little.

Thank You.

2012 has daylight running lights, and 2009 USA model does not.

Daytime running light function will not make a difference as this is only a low voltage source sent over the high beam circuit when lights are off. In other words you can install your non daytime running light housing on mine and the daytime running lights will work. It's not in the light but rather the way the power is sent.

I do not know if the harness is different however the only reason it may be is for the led light bar but I do believe this is just tapped from the low beam circuit as they only function when the lights are on and not when the DRL's are on. Lights on = light bar on, lights off = light bar off.

Speaking of which, has anybody modded the light bar to remain lit with only DRL's operating???

thats a good question I'm interested to know that too, and if the lights will fit a 2009

im interested in knowing also, so who will be the one to try it & let the rest of us know...? Im also in the process of replacing my fog lights with day time running LEDs like on the newer Mercedes Benz if i can find a dummy cover to go over my fog light openings

I have been looking at this for about 6 months and it appears that the 2012 headlights from a genesis spec r will fit the 2009 Genesis of course we will need to add the HID conversion but that is easy. I was wondering if there is a Hyundai parts specialist on this forum that can check to see if the housings are the same - they should has access to part diagrams for both the 2009 and 2012 Spec R headlight.

It's confirmed they're plug an play as long as u have what ur putting on. I seen it done at my local bodyshop after guy crashed his car he upgraded to 2012.

I've asked the question before about the light bar being rewired to be the DRL's. We never came to a full conclusion. It would be nice to know though.

As for a diagram, you can get that at the dealership service department. I've gotten them for the seats to see if I can add a power seat to the passenger side.

Anyone know if the LED strip on the 12' headlight works when installed on a 10'? I couldnt find a concrete answer on here

I have put 2013 Genesis R-Spec Headlights on my 2009 Genesis 4.6 - It was a simple plug and play - The way they work - first all functions work no problems -

The fancy headlight movement works like it did when you corner - the HID in the headlight is much brighter - that works need a HID converter Ballast (these are tiny and cheap) - The middle light bar (LED Effect) works when you turn the switch to parking light - LOOKS GREAT!

They headlight are expensive - my decision was made fore me - I hit a duck and it smashed out one of my previous headlights - lucky no body damage or paint damage - just headlight completely busted it out and duck parts all over the car - not the smartest animals -

I would love to upload photos but I cant seem to get this done correctly as it says to large of a file.

If anyone know how to upload photos to this site let me know.

The R-Spec lights LOOK KILLER BECAUSE they have tinted black surrounds around the head light and my Genesis is black.

Hope this helps

I too have an 09 black genny, I love the look of the r-spec headlights and am going to do the swap. can you give me a part number or anything to identify the part I need in terms of ballast? I am assuming Ill need 2 r-spec complete housings and then the 2 ballasts.. is that it? thanks in advance and to solve your picture size problem just go to yahoo and type in "online picture resizer" and youll be able to find a website that you can upload resize down to what the forum wants and hook us all up with a picture.. I also would like to know, as I wanted to know more about the Prada lights but the one member here how has them had a dealer install them and has no working knowledge as to how they where installed what he has posted in regards to the "Prada Light"

If I can't get any info on the "Prada Lights" then I'll have to look into a set of 2012+ Lights. I do not have OEM Xenon so I would like to add a set of OEM Xenon lights. Just need to know if it is a plug-n-play affair.
