  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012 Tech Package Nav Map Update Thoughts?

Hello, xxxxxxxx. This is Marcial from MnSoft Of America. Unfortunately, The map update for your vehicle will be released in 1-2 weeks. It is also Dealer installation only. Please visit your local Hyundai Dealership once the map update has been released. Thank you!
Thanks for the update. I was just in my dealer today and asked about the latest update. The 2018 is still not out, but I am hopeful it might be in soon.

Good luck on getting an answer to the dealer-only install. If I were going to guess, I think the truth is that the car must remain on for 3 hours, and they probably learned early in the life of the car that most civilians bricked their nav systems by killing the battery and interrupting the installation.

I had v11of maps update installed late last year on my 2010 and the dealer put the car on a charger so they could just do the update without using my half empty tank of gas for the length of time to update.

It boogles the mind to think an update requires 3 stinking hours in the 3rd millenium, but it is what it is.

I called my local dealer about the map update and they said in the fall is when the newest update normally comes out.I like to get mine updated it still has the orginal one.

Honestly you're better off buying a $100-150 Garmin or Tom Tom or similar portable GPS that has lifetime maps and POI's vs. spending $175 at Hyundai for a map that will be out of date in mere weeks or months.

They wanted $170 to update my 2015 Genesis map. Thanks but no thanks.

Maybe, depends on how you use the features. Each has benefits, the biggest one is cost for the Garmin and lifetime map updates. Hard to beat.

The built in has a larger screen, especially on the ultimate. If you want to find a POI along the route, it is easy to find a hotel and call ahead to make a reservation. Garmin may have some of that but it is easier when integrated in the car. It is price though, but everyone has to decide what is best for their needs.

I did forget to note that Garmin is a good option if you don't have Android Auto or Apple Car Play. With AA, I can just use it for Google Maps/calling etc all via voice commands.

Bump. Anybody have any new info? It's Dec 2018 now and last update I had was 2012 or 13. I would really like to have udated info IN the NAV unit in the car. Getting old using a cellphone or old maps.

To be honest the update I got last year because Indianapolis continues to grow northward had a few new helpful updated maps but overall I'm not convinced.

Now I agree with you that having to use phones/GPS devices are annoying and a pain while the NAV in the cars goes unused. I would rather use the car's builtin NAV so I pay for the update although I will wait another year before I move on from v11.

Is this something that can be purchased used? Just need the discs, I have a battery charger to keep the battery from dying....

Hi! Can anyone with a 2012 Genesis do me a HUGE favor and upload your files in "My Device/DocFolder"? I'm getting a UcomH_NEW.exe error when I turn on my car (happened after we replaced the battery), and per a youtube video (linked below), I just need to replace those corrupted files with good files from another Genesis. I navigated to the folder and it's actually empty, so that makes sense why I'm getting this error.

The instructions are in the video to get the files, but below is the TLDR/L/W.

To get to the file explorer:
  1. Insert USB stick
  2. Turn on the car
  3. Press Map Voice (once), Route (twice), Dest (twice), Map Voice (once), Route (twice), Dest (twice), Map Voice (once)
  4. Copy files from My Device --> DocFolder to your USB
  5. Upload to dropbox/google drive/one drive/etc. - anything works :) Please make it public and share the link!
Currently the infotainment is stuck with this error screen so I cannot program radio, adjust air, or view backup camera (which is the most crucial IMO!). Really appreciate the effort and SO MUCH thanks in advance!

I have a 2012 Genesis Sedan with the Technology Package. It still has its original maps that probably date to early 2012, or possibly 2011. I have it at the dealer for a service, and am considering the map software update as long as they have it in the shop. Are there any user general system interface or feature benefits from jumping from 2011 or early 2012 maps to the latest V11 2017 maps? Or, are the only updates to the map data themselves?

I just got a used 2012 Genesis 5.0 and the maps haven't been updated since 2011. Is there any luck for me getting any newer update to maps?
