  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Been lurking here for a while. Purchased an off lease '12 Tech package a few months ago with 36k miles. Drove from GA to KY. The last 400 miles home the check engine light was on, car running perfectly.

Get car to local dealer, transmission pressure solinoid threw the code, they replace. Pick the car up and the next day it is jerking, bucking, shifting wrong. Take car to a different dealer (where I bought car) because the one that did the repair is closed xmas eve.

Service guy rides with me and immediately feels it. Says the torque converter isn't locking up, I have pressure issue or internal failur and likely need new trans.

I called today and said that makes no sense, car was perfect prior to repair. Asked them to call other dealer and figure out what they did. I called other dealer and was told they did solinoid and changed fluid.

Will see what I find out tomorrow. Is it likely that the trans has failed already? Why would dealer change fluid on a solinoid repair? Seems odd for a major repair after the solinoid repair.

I didn't take car back to dealer that did repair because I don't trust them and have good relationship with the dealer I bought the car (they're just out of the way).

Any insight appreciated.

It doesn't make sense if:

1. They properly replaced the solenoid with the correct part, and
2. They didn't screw something up while R&Ring the trans fluid, but...

It sounds like the ECM (computer) got confused somehow and is trying to shift the trans at times when it shouldn't - hence the bucking etc. I don't know what the procedure is for replacing the solenoid or the fluid but I'm suspecting not every wire got put back in the correct place.

Did the ECM throw a code after the bucking incident?

No additional codes and say they are certain correct part was used. I agree, something wasn't put back together correctly.
