  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2012 loaded 3.8 which has been a great car except for what I feel is excessive road and wind noise at interstate speeds. With the original tires, I find that the noise level is considerably higher than similar cars in this price range. I will seriously consider a new 2015 later this year, but wonder if anyone can shine some light on whether or not the new model has improved in this area.

I don't know about the 2015, but it must be substantially better. Because my 2011 was much noisier than my 2014 R-Spec which is very quiet. So the 2015 can only be better.

I can't comment on the V6, but there's a big difference in noise and isolation between my 2015 (Sophie) and my previous 2012 5.0 (Tatiana). The one nit against the 2015 is the stock tires: they are prone to flatspot in the cold, and until they warm up, you will definitely feel a bit of vibration- it almost feels like there's a piece of clay or mud stuck to the bottom of the wheels. However annoying that is, it does go away after a few minutes (it makes you wonder though how many people go to test drive a Genesis when it's cold outside and get turned off by initial somewhat lumpy ride).

Otherwise, the 2015 feels much more quiet and refined. Steering is also a big improvement over the 2012. I can take corners with a lot more confidence; no more weird feeling in turns that distracts from your confidence.

I have a V6 2012 and my mom got the V6 2015. Both are 100% loaded. I never thought mine was loud at all, but the new one is definitely much quieter. Hyundai claims the 2nd gen has 84 pounds of additional sound-deadening material that the old one did does not have.

The biggest difference I have noticed between my 2012 and 2015 is with the handling and ride, which is improved. Wind noise, MPG, performance, and comfort are very close in my opinion. I do like the advanced safety features very much and I am very happy with the 2015.

That was a Great Post with excellent response from all fellow members!!! I love this forum !!

Strange, I would say that I start getting wind noise around about 55+, which actually surprised me... now listening to others, i wonder if i have a seal issue somewhere?
