In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I test drove the 2012 3.8 with a tech package today. Enjoyed the new display in the center of the display which did a great job of showing the new lane departure warning system as well as the adaptive cruise control.

So now I have decided on the Titanium Grey when the 4.6s arrive. But I can't decide on interior color. Black, cashmere or saddle. Originally I wanted saddle but after driving the test drive vehicle with black, I really like it.

Any thoughts on durability over time of one color vs another. Any thoughts on which looks the best with Titanium.?

Thanks.

I would go with Black. I think the Saddle would grow old, quick. By the way, the Cashmere isn't offered with the Titanium, but is offered with Platinum.

If your car sits in the sun in the south of U. S. then it will get very hot with a black interior.

I don't know. Mine's not that bad. Besides they cool off quickly.

i agree. having said that after buying about 5 or 6 new cars/trucks always the same black interior i went with cocoa/cashmere interior to brighten things up. i loved it. But, the Hyundai's tan interior is almost opposite the GM two tone tan, GM used the "cocoa" area for areas that were handled alot whereas Hyundai doesn't. My point is it shows alot of marks from the oils in your fingers, etc. When i purchased my Genesis i originally bought a tech black with tan 3.8 (long story short) i now drive a black on black and after 4 months of ownership i've had to wipe the interior down 2x.. the tan i owned for less than two days and already wiped the glove box area 2x lol...

Saddle looks nice. saddle or black on titanium? Black.. i almost got the Platinum with black when i had to pick out another Genesis, sometimes i regret not getting that color, it's awesome.

Tony,
I assume then that you are recommending the black interior with titanium over the saddle interior?

Another question since you have owned both the 3.8 and the 4.6.. Do yoou like the 4.6 much better? Why ? I understand you have a 2011 and I will be getting a 12.

We live in S. CA and had black interior in our Mercedes and our Acura TL. Swore I would never have it again due to the heat retention. Just bought a 2012 with saddle interior and love it. We have had more compliments on the interior color from friends than any other car we have had.

not to mislead you in any way, i only owned the 3.8 with tan interior for a couple days (just so we're clear). Yes i drove away in the 4.6 and couldn't believe i "had" the 3.8. it drives like a full size upper level luxury car. Hyundai was right about many things nothing being as important as the need to offer a smooth torquey quiet V8 in the american market. this car is what Cadillac should be building. my first cars were '78 Coupe De Villes and driving this car is like a modern one (in my world, like a flash from the past with 23 years of technological advances obviously lol).

And yes, if it were me in the titanium or platinum it would be black interior. but if given the choice, i would buy the saddle in any other color car that offers it. love that interior. unfortunately most of us have to take what is available. some of us can afford to wait for the "just right" but then you just end up procrastinating until you die lol..

Took 2012 3.8 yesterday for test driving, liked it a lot except a few things. Passenger seat is quite low, it doesn't have height adjustment unlike driver's seat, and the height for someone like my wife, who is 5'2" is quite low.
I'm also not sure if I liked having the controls for navigation not on the panel in front of me like in my M35, but I guess I might get used to it.
Ride, actually, is much softer than my M35.
Drove red one with cashmere, LOVED exterior color, HATED interior one. Too yellow for my taste. I have nothing against light interior, really like light gray in my friend's MDX, but this particular one just doesn't work for me.
Perfect combination would be red/black, but Hyundai decided to offer only cashmere interior for red cars, damn.
My M35 has black interior, it does get quite hot in summer, and I'm ready to get something different.
Dealer didn't have any car with saddle interior (they had one which was sold that morning), which I think might look quite nice, looks like a color of my leather sofa :) Have to call around to see if anyone has a car with saddle, if I like it then it will be either black/saddle or titanium/saddle.
Dealer mentioned that there are no saddle ones even in transit, and it's the least popular interior color.

Saddle leather looks great with a Black or White exterior.Black w/saddle was my first preference prior to purchase in 2010.

If you want saddle- come to Florida. I bought yesterday and got white/cashmere. I originally wanted black but it just didn't look right-kinda like someone sprayed everything inside the exact same color-stitching and all. My wife liked the saddle in the 2011 brochure so we looked at white/saddle. To me it was just a "yucky" color. So I guess we ended up with-in our minds- was the best of the worst-so to speak-cashmere. Anyway- I saw at least 3 with saddle at Napleton WPB. If you want choices though- I ended up buying at Coconut Creek Hyundai and they had 63 2012 Genesis sedans.

Although I really like the Saddle color, I am concerned that it will not wear as well as Black. I tend to keep cars 100K plus miles and I am afraid that Saddle will show marks and oil much more than Black.

Do others agree or disagree with the above comments.

agree. black wears better through the years from what i've seen. unless you are fanatical with your vehicle then it doesn't matter, or even a lighter color attracting less heat would stand up better. but not too many of us have the time or patience for that lol

I agree 100%, black looks better longer, and shows less dirt. Also, if you do get wear marks on the seats, they can more easily dyed to match.

As far as the heat, I live in Houston, and my current Infiniti has Black leather seats. Do they get hot, of course they do. But it really doesn't seem that much different than getting into my wife's car that has grey leather seats.

All cars, regardless of the interior color, have the top of the dash fairly dark (and also the trim just below the side windows and rear window shelf). This is to minimize reflections that would cause visibility problems for the driver. Even though dark brown or dark grey theoretically will not absorb as much heat as black in direct sunlight, there is not much difference. So the net is that the color of the interior has little to do with how hot your car gets inside. The exterior color actually makes more of difference than the interior color.

I personally prefer black because it gives more privacy, both when I am in the car and when it is parked (for items left in the car). My windows are lightly tinted (50 VLT ceramic), but with a black interior it harder for anyone to see inside my car from the outside than if I had a lighter interior.
