  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012...

If the rear seat is holding it all together...

Yeah... that must be it. The entire structural integrity of the car resides in the rear seat.

(rolls eyes)

Even on fold-down seats, there is plenty of bracing across the back frame. This car is no different than every other car out there.

Oh, I'm sorry, this one doesn't accelerate on its own, is not a natural habitat for spiders, doesn't roll over on sharp turns, and doesn't explode on impact. I was wrong.

How about staying on topic?

You forget that the Genesis does not catch fire and burn up while parked or sometimes while driving.

NO SUCH THING AS TOO MANY PICTURES!

Click the beautiful car below for many, many more pictures:

By the way, I was poking fun at the quad LED headlights a few days ago, but in one of the pictures, they show what kind of technology they have. AMAZING.

russimo,
u the man. Love the winged airbag and wings on uppers of front seats. I know the airbag is available but I wonder if dealer would install it. May be some warranty/safety concern.

Most dealers will install your airbag for you - you can just order the KDM unit HERE or HERE and pay your local Hyundai service department to do it for you. Or you could do TRY IT YOURSELF.

My dealer swapped my airbag - charged me $29. I could have done it myself, but I didn't have the tools. I figured $29 was a fair price - it took them about 15 minutesw.

If it can be confirmed that the airbag for 2012 and 2011 is one in the same, I may order the bag prior to purchasing the car given the time required for delivery from vendor. Same may be case for center caps and front/rear wings.

I don't think they've changed anything in the interior except for the trim colors (new trim colors on the 3.8 and 4.6, piano black on the 5.0).

I'm gonna get me a steering wheel sticker emblem and take it with me to the NY Auto Show... see if it matches the piano black trim first, save me $300 bucks.

;)

Good idea. I am also going to the NY show. Rep at Philly show mumbled something about not a good idea for dealers to swap out airbag. Safety issue according to her.

I thought so also. She even made faces when I talked about swapping out the flying H for the winged emblem on trunk and hood. Like it was something that dealers should not be doing.

I really don't like the new taillight. I prefer the old ones.

I like the new tail lights they are different then the standard rows of LEDs.
Definetly like the new head lights. Thanks Ruissimo for the pics, now if only the cars were available.... Can't wait to try out the new V6 and of course the new 5.0. I was already to buy the 4.6 a the same day that news of the changes came out and am now waiting for the cars to hit the show rooms like everyone else;)

Just returned from the Fort Lauderdale Auto Show. Much to my disappointment and contrary to what Hyundai had told me a few weeks ago, the R-Spec was not at the show. I was told that they never intended to have it at the Fort Lauderdale show and I was given bad information.

I then asked when they expect the R-Spec to be available for purchase. I was told it would most likely be December. I responded that everything I had read indicated this summer. The representative was kind enough to go check with someone else and the other gentleman came over and showed me a page within his notebook which showed the R-Spec was to begin production in March or April. He said that based on this information we should expect to see the car on dealers lots in July or possibly August.

Tough getting accurate info. On my prospective dealer's website it states that car was to be released in late March '11. Obviously not the case and when I emailed them, they said they had no idea when the car would be released. And the beat goes on...

Did Hyundai pull a quick one on Ward's Autoworld? They named the 5.0 engine as one of their 10 best, but in order to be eligible for this, the engine must be available for sale in the US market by the end of the first quarter of the year. That came and went 10 days ago, and I don't see anything about a single R-spec being available for sale. If they are only starting production now, that does not qualify for the Ward's top 10 engine list.

Putting on a $13 sticker on the steering wheel of this car is against the rules, but don't get mad at me I didn't make the rules....The car gods did:D

$45,000 - $50,000 car > with a terrible sticker is bad news. You can get the KDM airbag for $245 shipped. Trust me, I had the sticker and was embarassed when people made comments about how cheap it looks for a luxury car. I was trying to be cheap to save money, but I got what I paid for, both in regards to the sticker and the KDM airbag.

Thanks for the advice Scott... I know how I am, and I'm sure I'd be ordering the KDM unit within minutes of receiving that emblem. Problem is, I don't think I'd stop at just the airbag unit - I'd have to order the piano black trimmed wheel as well.

Who am I to question the rules?
