  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2013 Drops 4.6 and 5.0, New Nav

While I understand getting rid of the 4.6L offering the removal of the 5.0 is a questionable move...now your basically telling the customer either buy a V6 or you have to choose the R-SPEC with a stiffer suspension/ride and a very limited color choice if you want an 8Cyl....that IMO is not smart business.

Welcome to the choice Canadians have had for almost a year now!
At least you'll finally have white r-specs with a black interior available :)
Kidding aside, I would have thought for a market as large as the US, color choices (at a minimum) would be greater. However they must have their reasons for doing so.

If the V8 is dropped except for the R-spec then I will most likely get a two year old Equus in a few years.

Well this is a bummer for me. I've been waiting for the 2013's since May thinking I'd probably get a '13 non-RSpec 5.0, but wanted to drive both a 2013 RSpec and a std. 5.0 -to get a feel for the difference in handling and ride. No option now it seems. I really prefer the R-Spec's wheels over all others, but am not altogether thrilled with the thought of a stiffer ride and that extra 1 MPG hit. Bigger brakes are nice tho.

I would not have considered an R-Spec before 2013, as the pearl white is a must for me. Personally, the "fixed" Nav system, Bluetooth, and Bluelink addition are deal-sealers for a 2013. Oh, and I'm not willing to wait for the 2nd gen Gen; Hyundai's gone too nutty with the Fluidic designs leaking everywhere for my tastes, and suspect I won't like the restyling. Besides, I don't need AWD. decisions, decisions....

Please, please say they do a software update...

Would go a long way to ensuring I use my trade in value on a '14 or '15 Rspec...

In Hyundai does not include more color options, then this will be my last Genesis. We have the Sterling Blue, love the color and they dropped it.

The big Question.....What do you get instead? ....You may get a great color, but will you get a great car?

Has anyone heard anything about whether the upgrades will improve the dismal iPod integration?

No red color with the 5.0-----------no buy for me. Nor do I really want the stiffer ride of the R-Spec to get the 5.0.

Don't know who the Hyundai marketing guys are, but they've got their heads where the sun doesn't shine.

Guess it's time to get serious about a Taurus SHO.

I don't know the answer, but I would not count on it. When Hyundai improved the Genesis suspension in 2010, they would not provide 2009 owners with part number information for owners who were willing to pay to upgrade the suspension themselves. The response from HMA was: "If you want the upgrade, trade-in your car for the latest model."

I just read an article that drives home the point about how much of an automotive death sentence having dated electronics might be. From the article:

I am more often confronted with questions about Bluetooth music integration, traffic data rerouting, and how many cupholders are in arm's reach of the front seat passengers. Our Passat SEL has most of the toys people expect in a sub-$30,000 car. It has Bluetooth for phone and music. It has satellite radio and traffic info for the navigation. It has iPod integration, and yes, it has two cupholders in the front seat and another two in back. For 2013, VW has even added a back-up camera.

While our Volkswagen is at its core a great car, potential customers seem to be more interested in its "apps."

It seems to be that Hyundai might be on the leading edge of a trend of manufacturers performing major relevant electronics upgrades before the full model gets refreshed. I'd say this is a good thing.

Now if only they could fix the crappy iPod integration...

I have the color combo that you are looking for. You will love it! The black really shines. Hard though on a OCD person! ;)

Wow, this is great timing. I am ready to purchase now & actually requested quotes from multiple dealerships in my area this morning on a 2012 3.8 w/ Tech and Black exterior w/ Saddle interior.

From the responses I have received this configuration isnt available anywhere in the Dallas area.

With these new features, sounds like I would be better off waiting for a 2013 in order to get exactly what I want even if it's a little more expensive.

I wonder how long until the 2013 is available...
