If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Looking to replace H emblems with flying wing , 2013 3.8 touring, any suggestions which is the best to purchase, seems a lot of options out there, with mixed reviews, I'm looking for recommendation as to which would be the best, looking for front and rear, wheels and steering wheels

Thanks

I got too antsy and had my dealer swap out the H badges for the Wings before I picked up my new 2013 V6, about 5 weeks back.

Had I taken a moment to think straight, I would definitely have gone the DIY route, as the installations seem simple, and I waaaay over paid for something I could have easily done myself, not to mention enjoyed doing.

There are many places to buy the wings, either individually or in sets, some of which are genuine Hyundai parts, which you can tell from the description and packaging. They are fairly inexpensive to purchase, depending on which items you want. (Some are tricked out and more expensive. The basics are not).

Here's a sourcing list I have compiled, based on reading all or almost all the threads on this topic:

Seoulful Racing:
(Positive reviews from Forum Members)

http://seoulfulracing.com/
(Parts ship from Korea)

Or their eBay store (Parts ship from local US warehouses, apparently more quickly)
http://stores.ebay.com/SFRstore

Korean Auto Imports
(Mixed Reviews from Forum Members, but most are positive)

http://www.koreanautoimports.com

Or try this direct link:

Some of the eBay Sellers with positive recommendations on past Forum threads:
VIP_snow
Kdmland
Woowon11
AutoXclusive (Korean Auto Import)

There are many others in both EBay and Amazon. Just look for 100% positive rating and you should be fine.

Installation tips:

HOOD
Adding a wing to the hood is easiest since its not replacing anything. Just be sure you're installing the correct one. It's slightly larger and somewhat curved vs the trunk wing. Clip off the posts or saw off with a Dremel like tool. I snipped mine off with kitchen shears just to see if it would work, and it did. (Practicing on my discarded H logo).

Know that many if not most owners don't feel the hood wing is necessary, as it takes away from a beautifully simple design. I'm on the fence. I think it looks great both ways. I have not installed a hood wing, as I'm still noodling it. It's completely subjective and there's no wrong answer. Beautiful with. Beautiful without.

TRUNK
Replacing the trunk wing is easy-ish. Definitely doable. There's an excellent video on YouTube showing a guy removing the old H logo with dental floss and a hair dryer, and I believe, some goo gone. If you can't find it LMK and I'll repost. (edit: here is the link: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6l9hfr-J64"]How to rebadge the trunk lid of your Hyundai Genesis - YouTube[/ame].) It may take a few mins to remove, but it looks easy peasy and idiot proof. (Other videos recommend scraping with a credit card, I wouldn't suggest that. Make sure you use a super strong dental floss, meaning one that is essentially unbreakable.)

WHEELS (on tires)
The wheel wings looked deceptively hard at least to me, but the inner round with H logo apparently pops out, and new ones with wings can be snapped in easily. I didn't realize till getting back my old ones from the dealer how plug and play the wheel inserts were.

STEERING WHEEL
And lastly the steering wheel (nay airbag) logo; therein lies the dilemma. You have a few choices: a sticker, a new airbag, or a new wheel. Most people opt for sticker (~$20) or new airbag (~$300).

If you are not opposed to cheap and cheery, just buy a sticker from one of the above sources. They are okay, not great, just ok. There are many detailed photos in past threads and online if you want to look at the finished product first, which you should.

After seeing the KDM airbag in person, I wouldn't be satisfied with the sticker. I'd rather keep the stock H logo on if it came down to it, but I'm not trying to disguise the fact that I'm driving a Hyundai. If I was trying to obliterate all signs of it being a Hyundai, then the sticker is better than nothing. But again, I'm not. I just really like the wings and feel it enhances the car. (And/or maybe I'm lying to myself and secretly don't want to be seen in a Hyundai. Not entirely sure, if I'm being honest. I started out not caring whatsoever, now I don't know anymore...LOL).

Bottom line on the steering wheel sticker: whatever you do, do not remove the old logo before covering with the new sticker. It seems completely counter-intuitive, but apparently the new sticker is concave and made to be placed on top of the existing (embedded) H logo. Otherwise, if you remove the H, the sticker application appears lumpy and looks sucky.

The best looking option, IMHO, is to buy a new airbag cover from one of the two main sources above. An important consideration is to get the right color (black or beige) and to do your own QA inspection ASAP upon receipt to ensure it arrived without scratches, damage, or discoloration.

But firstly, and before buying, you need to decide if you want to have it installed, or if you'll be comfortable installing it yourself. And if you want to have it installed, spend the time looking for an installer, and getting a bid, before you order the part.

Again, before buying, make sure you line up your installation plan of record. This is the trickiest part, and if you do not like unexpected surprises, you will want to think through installation before ordering.

If you opt to DIY, it is apparently not impossible to do, according to many if not all prior threads. I haven't read about anyone who couldn't do it, even complete noobs (like me). I'm on the fence as to whether to do it myself or not. Will decide shortly. Still evaluating whether there's a local installer who can do it. If so, I'll likely go that route, just because I'm not mechanically gifted. But even so, it seems fairly easy and I might try. If someone could share a video I would be more comfy, but so far I haven't found one (or at least one that wasn't removed or no longer posted).

The one hot tip I read is that if your dealer can't or won't (or is too pricey), then check with auto body shops. They apparently replace airbags all day long, and you might have an easier time finding a low cost and reputable installer by going with body shops. The price range people have discussed is anywhere from zero to $100 for installation, with $40 being typical.

But again, many a noob (newbie) has reportedly installed his or her own airbag with success. If you have the inclination, spend some time searching past forums and you'll find lots of tips, written instructions, and even some play by play pics.

Hope this helps. I've been researching this topic over the past 24 hours and documenting much of what you've asked for, so it was all at my fingertips.

If anyone has anything to add, I'll be happy to learn more.

Ps. This is bordering on the silly, but I also removed the window stickers and license plate frames that said Hyundai. The only place where I still can see signs of Hyundai, are the teeny tiny H logos etched into each of the windows with the window specs. I thought about trying to scrape those off, but haven't done so yet. I had to check myself there, reminding myself I don't mind driving a Hyundai. But it's easy to get carried away a bit when you're on a roll. LOL.

Thanks that's a lot if info. Appreciate the time taken, will be going the DIY route I think. They also pin striped the side of mine with a small H logo just above door handle. I think I will leave that one

Apart from logo. Love the car, traded a 2011 camero RS, and the genesis is a lot quicker and more nimble, loved the camero but the genesis is better
