  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2013 Genesis R-spec 5.0 1/4 mile times

Good run. What were you against? A Vette?

Looks like a camero and it looks like you had him beat for a little while.

Yep, ha ha you almost had him beat.
May be next time.
What was his number, do you know?

He was running a customized 1100 horse camaro, twin turbo'd supercharger with nos! Good buddy of mine.....so I was just happy to beat him off the line. He ran a 12.6 at 127 mph. It was his first run with the car setup. I'm confident with slicks he would run low tens.

My 2013 5.0 runs a 1/8 8.7 seconds. 14.1 is to slow for our cars .

TommyJR - did you run with the traction control enabled? I pulled the fuse and ran it off. I manually shifted. Car was almost full tank of gas - so extra weight. Take into consideration this was my first time ever running the strip - so a little (lot) nervous! We're going back up in two weeks - would like to see if I can get it to run in the 13's. Plan on lowering air pressure in the tire a bit - see if I can eliminate tire spin.

Here's another clip of my very first run - couldn't get the wheels to hook up. Spun them all the way through 4th and finally just reset and started again.

you ran a 1/8 miles. what he was talking about was a 1/4. just saying maybe you guys didnt noticed.

but i want to take mine down to county line one day and try it out,

Yes I did notice it was quarter-mile time but the stats show that you run a 13.1

Yea, I think my 1/8 time was over a second slower than yours at 9.717. I'm running in the Salt Lake area - so high altitude might have negative affect on time. Again, first time ever running at the drag so driver probably also had negative affect!!!

Yes correct, human error is always the issue lol

Get the spare tire off and use highest octane possible on your next run too.
I'm quite surprised you had beat right off the line considered the amount of hp he got.

Is running 100 octane okay? Any thoughts on lowering the tire pressure a bit?

I don't see why not.
Higher (octane) is the better as long as you're not routinely abusing it.
Lowering the tire pressure may give you a better grip at launch, I think.

I ran four 13.9x @ around 101mph runs last night in the quarter at Bradenton Motorsports Park. Trunk was full of stuff including subwoofer, briefcase, air mattress, toolbox, etc.

I launched around 1500-2k RPM, just left it in D. Tried both ESC on and ESC off. My best result was 13.91 @ 101 with ESC off.

You guys should be down in the low 13's. best i've heard of was a dealer in L.A. tok a '12 respec, truned ESc off and ran in the high 12's. So it is doable.

I'd like to take mine to the track one day. My buddy has a 12 sec '66 Nova SS that I tuned for him. He's talking about going to the track again and wants me to go along and bring the R Spec. He's been in my car doing a few runs on some back roads. Says it feels as fast as his Nova.

get rid of that extra weight in your trunk. Next time try launching from idle and 1500-2k RPM and compare 60ft times to see which one is more effective.

Ran again tonight at the track and ran best time of 14.4 at 99 mph. Had a little tire spin off the line, so still think there is room for improvement. Ran with 1/4 tank of gas and spare tire removed, with the tire pressure down to 23. Track here in Salt Lake is High Elevation - so at sea level those numbers would probably be 13.4. I still think I could run in the 13's even at this elevation. (60'...2.379, 330...6.269, 1/8...9.447, 1000...12.138, 1/4...14.416)

I have a iPhone 5 & I am trying to post a video. & I can't any ideas ?
