  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I researched this endlessly a few months ago and it seemed that 3rd party apps (Spotify/Pandora) just would not work via USB through Apple's lightning cable on an iPhone 5. It would play for a few seconds, but then cut off and start playing iPod music.

I finally updated to iOS 7.1.1 and Spotify finally works perfectly via USB. Album art, steering wheel control, etc.

I'd like to know if this is the same for everybody or if I have just run into an anomaly (and therefore hold off on making any changes to my phone).

Can somebody else confirm if this is normal behavior, or an anomoly? Months ago it was impossible to get a 3rd party music app like Spotify, Pandora, etc to work on the iPhone without it cutting off after a few seconds and starting to play a song in the "Music" app instead.

I think I've been able to narrow the method down to a workable solution, but just want to know if this common.

As of today, the latest iOS version is 7.1.2.

I am on 7.1.2 and it still does not work for me.

I am using iPhone 5 and 2013 Genesis Tech Package. It is not working for me also with ios 7.1.1

What I noticed is a bit odd though. To get it to work, I connect the iPod cable and it auto switches to the ipod music playing. Make sure the headunit shows it as playing and not paused. While your ipod music is playing. Go to Slacker, that's what I use, and go to your playlist or whatever and then hit play.
The headunit then shows iPod mode still and plays the music on Slacker Radio, shows the title and cover art as well.

What is odd is that, some of the songs seem to have popping or alternate noise in it. Also the title & art hung up after 30 or so minutes. Then finally the screen went all crazy and then the system completely rebooted. Odd.

Also what got annoying was when a incoming call came in, was that the system switched back to normal ipod loaded music and played that over the bluetooth while the call connected.
