If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Anybody done the oil/filter change on the 2015 5.0 engine yet?

I'm curious if there's a cup wrench for the filter cap available - I do know you can get it off with a 24 mm. socket wrench, though.

And, it looks like you gotta remove one (or more) splash shields to access the filter assembly and drain plug (which is still 17 mm.)

Lastly, it looks like about 8.5 qts of oil for a refill?

You need to remove both shields. The 24 mm socket works well. It takes 8.5 quarts. I used Mobil 1 0w-30. I prefer 0w-30 to 0w-20 and both are acceptable with the 5.0. I did try to get the filter covered with oil prior to screwing it in (I normally fill the filter with oil, but this is difficult on the Genesis). The other issue is that there are very few jacking points on the Genesis. I ended up jacking up 1 side and putting a jack stand close to it in case the jack fails.

Do you remember what kind of fasteners the "shields" use?

Looks like oil/filter change on the genesis 5.0 is a hassle - but I still prefer to do it myself. I also am assuming the dealers will have a cup wrench available one of these days.

Even the dealer thinks it's a hassle. When I was there having mine changed, the tech commented on how many screws he had to take out to even get to the oil drain.

I'm thinking of getting/using one these little compact battery powered screwdrivers - assuming the fasteners are phillips screws.

The right tools help a lot - that's why I'd like to get a special cup wrench for the filter housing also.
