2015 5.0 Need New Tires

My 2015 5.0 had those Michelin A/S 3 tries installed when I bought it used. The tires handled pretty good for all season tires even when worn. I would buy those again if I ever decide to go back to all season tires.

I went with the Michelin A/S 3+ because I was tired of blowing DWS06 all the time. Regretting that because of the noise I have to put up with compared to the Conti's... I'd rather deal with a blowout once in a while than the drone all of the time.

I totally agree with you the drone noise from the Michelins is terrible. After just a couple thousand miles I tossed mine in the trash. THEY WERE HORRIBLE. Handled great, but the droning noise was unbearable.

I am curious about the blowouts you experienced with the DWS06 tires. I have almost 15,000 miles on mine and never had a blowout. Did you run over something, or did the sidewalls fail?

Just bad luck. One time, I was driving down to Portland and I hit a bridge connect where the concrete was worn and that blew out the sidewall. The second time, I hit a pothole in Vancouver and got a sidewall bubble. Not that I haven't hit potholes before but with Conti's, they seem to get damaged a lot more easily because of the soft sidewalls. They're designed for comfort.

Also, into my third year with the DWS06 before I swapped it out, my front passenger tire was feathered on both edges. Might have been an alignment problem. I check my tire pressure once a month and once a week in the winter.

I feel the A/S 3+ handles better because of the stiffer sidewalls but the DWS06 does better in the snow. The A/S 3+ could be a great tire if they just put that acoustic foam in the tire like the Conti's.

They're not like winter tire noisy but definitely a lot noisier than the Conti TX the car came with and the DWS06 I replaced the TX with. Even when I'm driving slowly around a parking lot with the window down, it sounds like the tires are covered with glue and I'm peeling it off the pavement as I'm rolling. Perhaps if you can buy some acoustic foam and apply it to the inside of the tire before installation. That might make it better.

If you're okay with the noise of winter tires, you'll probably be okay with these. I do like that the tire sticks out past the rim more than the Conti's. Gives it more curb protection.

I was thinking that my set of old Michelin A/S 3 tires was a bit noisy on my Geneisis, however I thought it was because they were near the end of the service life(halfway to the wear bars) since mine were used I bought the car. Still great handling tires even to the end before I swapped them out.

Definitely still a great tire, I just don't think the noise goes well with a luxury vehicle. It's better suited for a car with more engine noise to mask the tire drone.

Didn't see anyone mention the BFGs. I got a staggered set of BFGs from Costco for my 5.0:

So far I'm 25k miles (18 months) into the set, and the rears are close to bald. I don't have any performance complaints with the tires, but I don't think any set is going to be able to last >30k miles with this car. When I bought the car from the first owner, the tires were similarly worn at ~28k miles.

I expect Costco will honor the balance of 45k warranty, so I'll just get a new set. FYI, I live in IN and don't want to mess with winter tires.

Getting some Yokohama Advan Sports tomorrow. Not quite the wet grip of the BFG's but a lot quieter. Used to run them on my Infiniti.

I'm a Michelin convert.

I have no issue with the MXM4's that came in the car... Great tires, but they're not cheap.

I used to have some MXM4's on my old 2014 KIA Optima SXL turbo. Made a big difference in handling over the stock Hankook all-season tires that were stock on the car new. Lasted a while until I traded the car. Very quiet tire. They are pricey. I paid about $180 a tire I believe.

I was removing the tacky chrome "eyebrow" bumper trim over the fog-lights on the Optima SXL for black trim to blend in.


I was swapping the brake pads for some Hawk HPS pads

I ended up ordering new Michelins with Costco. Because my car is RWD, the warranty is only half of the advertised. I'm not upset about that. I beat on the car pretty hard, so I have no problem giving it good tires.

I have the Michelin AS3+ and are happy with them. They do not last as long as the warranty, but Michelin gave me a very fair proration on replacements

I'm running the same....the rears do not last as long but that is what it is.....very good tires and I am happy with them....

I ran the same Advan Sport AS's on my Infiniti for ~18k before I got rid of it with no issues. They're a hell of a lot quieter than the Potenza RE970's that were mounted by the previous owner.

I just swapped from A/S 3+ to DWS06 285/35ZR19 on the rear and couldn't be happier. I hadn't realized how bad the tread drone was until I didn't have it any more. Definitely more of a comfort tire though, sidewall is incredibly soft compared to the Michelins.
