  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was looking to replace my 2012 3.8 in the 2016 model year. By then the C300 will be out and the new TLX should be in dealers very soon.

I have mentioned the C300. Now that pricing is out, it should be relatively comparable with the Genesis (probably lacking a few items at the same price) in price and comfort (if not quite in size) and offer similar performance (given its much lighter weight and the torque of the turbo 4).

The TLX brings a slightly different proposition. The V6 should bring at least as good handling (or better) as the Genesis, but the V6-9 Sp. AWD combo pricing is at least several thousand lower for a similarly equipped vehicle (and it will likely hold its resale better). Now, from the small amount from the first test drives available, the interior is solid but a bit downscale compared to the Genesis and it is not as roomy but should hold 4 six footers in comfort (given that it is an Accord which is roomy) and the ride will not be quite as good. But it should handle better, accelerate better and get far better mileage than the 3.8 Genesis along with slightly better customer experience at an Acura dealer (that and the resale are the two reasons why I am even considering the others as I really like the new Genesis and the Hyundai dealer is around the corner from my home, another advantage).

What do you think?

So you will purchasing in Fall of 2015 or in early 2016? Isn't it a little early to be deciding?

No. I was a bit impulsive when I bought the Genesis without driving others. I think the market has a lot more in the way of viable competitors this time with the improvements in all of the cars and the price bump of the Genesis. I will start driving cars early in 2015 so I can simply negotiate price come the following fall.

I have been following the TLX as well, and in fact just posted on that forum. It will not be any faster than the 3.8 based upon initial information and the Genesis will still offer more for the money, more space, more equipment levels available at a good price, and in my opinion is much better looking than the TLX. Acura does not seem capable of breaking out of the funk they are in. And mind you, I have owned a lot of them including a recently traded 2012 TL my wife drove.

I agree. They have gone sideways for years and appears to be continuing the downward spiral. There was a time when they commanded an enviable position in the mid luxury/sport sedan market and questionable design decisions and inability predict the market has taken a toll. I owned a 1993 Acura Legend LS which was a wonderful car with great service, quality materials and excellent resale. Aside from the still missing NSX, they offer nothing now that stirs the blood or wallet.
