  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have 25k kms on my Tech and the paint chips on the front bumper are in the thousands. I bought the car from the dealer at 18k kms and didnt notice the chips then but the day was dark and rainy when I picked it up .The dealer said it was driven by the owner on the highway , seems like he hit a cloud of sand perhaps as windshield is also full of tiny chips . My local dealer looked at it and said there was no paint issues he was aware of but agreed it has premature damage . Any suggestions? I would post a pic but don't know how too. Thanks in Advance

The front bumper definitely takes a beating. The only solution is to get some kind of clear-bra on the front of the vehicle before it gets beat-up (I know, that's sorta like someone telling you to not leave toast in so long after it's already burnt). I went with XPel Ultimate on mine. It's the one piece of advice I'd tell new owners: get some kind of clear-bra on the front as soon as possible. In the future before I drive a car off the lot, I'm going to try and have it done.

sounds like normal wear damage from being driven that much. you can have the bumper repainted relatively cheaply and then apply protective film or a ceramic coating like cquartz to help protect the paint. I wouldn't count on the dealer to help as the car was purchased used.

Bought mine new .... 10k now few paint chips .... dealership repainted the rear bumper because the exhaust tips where burning the paint. ?. Looked at sone other ones thst where demos and they had it too....agreed it was not right and took care of it ... first hyundai and in my opinion it seems to scratch easy. ?. Fyi I sold hyundais at this dealership for 2 years my best friend is the gm so I get a little better treatment. ?. Lol

I have not had issues with the burnt tips due to the exhaust. The rear bumper remains dirty but not burnt :-). If anything the paint is excellent on the Genesis - I have not noticed it scratching easily. In fact after my recent deer collision I have had several body shops comment on the quality of the paint on the car.

Yeah I've read on the forum (and from my detailer) how hard the paint is on the Genesis.

exactly, that combined with the thickness of sheetmetal and the rigidity of the car are a great testament to Hyundai's build quality.

I will take a picture when its daylight .Believe me this is not normal wear .

Maybe just bad luck.... I have a scratch on the door by the mirror, I think it was from the tent guy but I can't prove it, so I'm SOL... when the dealership toom the emblems off the trunk the
y scratched it up with. A stripping wheel ....and thr paint was cursty chalky on thr bumper around the exhsust tips.....its fixed now

These pics are trying to show how many chips but not easy certainly way too many for 27000 kms - 16777 miles!

Whatever color you get, do yourself a favor and get Xpel Ultimate (or the equivalent) before you leave the lot.

I'm finally getting serious about getting a clear bra on my car. Can anyone offer opinions/experiences on Xpel vs. Suntek (or any others)? One dealer I spoke with advised that they are "both the same" but that the Suntek is somewhat more glossy. And while saying that, he advised the cost of Xpel is 25% higher than Suntek.

I realize that I'm sort of splitting hairs here but this is an addition that will or should anyway, last the life of the vehicle. So I'm looking for a little guidance from the group.

BTW - mine is also Caspian Black and I LOVE it!!

Thanks!

Honestly I've only got experience with Xpel Ultimate. I went with them because it was my (possibly incorrect) perception that they were the best; I wanted the best product I could get for my white car. I did spend a couple hours googling forums back then, but I honestly couldn't tell you what my reasons were backk then.

I use CQuartz on my cars so I cant really speak to protection films personally. I do have several friends that have Xpel and they are all very pleased with it.
