  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ask a question and you get a million answers. Bought the 2015 Equus obviously I knew it was a V8. It would stand to reason such a engine would require Premium gas, yet I'm being told you can get away with regular. I've never heard of that in a V8. Why I ask this question is,my so called certified Hyundia Equus guy tells me so. But then I don't believe everything I hear. Clearly the full tank they gave me was garbage gas...I have since filled it up twice with premium and it's Purring again.BUT ! in a last minute pinch could I use regular gas "without" doing damage to my engine ?

Many modern engines that require premium to be able to deliver the advertised horsepower will happily use regular at a slight HP reduction. Whether yours fits this bill will be clearly pointed out in your Owner's Manual. My 2010 4.6 simply gave up 7 horsepower when I used regular.

Check your owners manual. It should state that premium is recommended, but regular is OK for the Hyundai V8.

Get away with regular???? Your car will run fine on regular, but I predict you won't believe anybody, including the manual.

I have tried 87, 89, and 93 Octane. 87 seems to decrease performance slightly. With 93, she simply purrs! 2011 Equus Ultimate.
