2015 Genesis 3.8 - surround sound setting

If this has been posted somewhere else, I apologize! I looked around and couldn't find it.

I have the luxury edition (I am located in Canada). Under Sound setup there is an Advanced section, then under that there is "Surround Sound". By default every time I start the car up it is OFF. I like it on as I believe it sounds better.

This drives me bananas. Anyone else have this issue?

Mine stays in Surround. USA car though don’t know if it makes a difference.

How does someone advise Hyundai about this issue? Does it go through a dealer? It does sound like it is a bug but only in Canadian editions.

This is I guess a general question too if you experience a software bug.

Does Canada allow surround sound?

It's not illegal in Canada, in fact it is free for everyone. The only problem is you have to wait 6 months to get it.

I wouldn't be surprised is there is a default setting for this on the 2015, since it was widely complained about in previous models that it reset every time the engine was turned off.

However, the USA Ultimate has the Lexicon 17 speaker Discrete 7.1 Surround Sound system that plays DVD-A. The surround sound systems on lower USA packages are synthesized surround sound from stereo sources, which the Ultimate can do also (except for Base Trim which is stereo only). So the default might not work exactly the same on all systems, but just guessing.

The surround sound should stay on. This was a very common problem in 1st generation Genesis. The original fix was to replace the head unit. It was reported later that an update was available to fix the issue. I replaced the head unit and the surround sound remained checked. Unfortunately the new head unit had other issues.

It doesn't matter if you own a Canadian car or not. Go to the dealer and insist he fix it.

I bought my door sills from Korean Auto Imports and I think they look amazing. I only did the front doors to keep the cost down. I rolled through Choctaw once 40 years ago when I was a student at OU. I won't compliment you on your avatar for obvious reasons.

Korean Auto gets some complaints here but I had a very good experience.

My surround is switching off as well. I was hoping this thread would give me a voice command to turn it back on without navigating the touchscreen menu everytime.
