If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I recently leased a 2015 Genny RWD 3.8 V6. After 2,000 miles I'm thouroughly enjoying all of this car's driving qualities except that when stopped at idle, with the AC on, there's an annoying vibration that's felt in the seats. Once underway it goes away and if I turn the AC off the vibration is considerably muted. Has anyone noticed this or does my car have an issue?

Interesting... Do you have the ventilated seats option? If so, does turning it off and/or on start or stop the vibration?

I do have ventilated seats and use it often but have not checked for that. Thanks.

This has been reported before and appears to be just a characteristic of the vehicle.

I would think that for a vehicle of this caliber that it would be a poor characteristic. My daughter drives a 2011 Sonata and I dare to say it idles smoother than my new Genesis. I'll make an appointment with my dealer's service manager to hopefully shed more light on this subject. Thanks.

The ventilated seat are fan operated only and not hooked into the AC system...It draws inside air and vents only the ambient temp inside the car

I have not had any vibration when AC is on.... Do you notice any drop of rpm on the tach. at idle with AC is on or off??? The idle may need to be adjusted when AC is on. I believe most cars do this automatically to compensate for the extra load

there is on occasion a noticeable vibration at idle when the a/c is on in my car (htrac).

I noticed the vibration for the first time today. I only use the car pretty much on weekends and as such I have not chalked up a lot of drive time to date. In addition, I do not often use the A/C but given the high 93 degree temp today I switched on the A/C and noticed the vibration at idle. I actually shut the car off and restarted to make sure it was really happening. I thought it was just me!!

Great comments. When at idle, if I shift into neutral, the RPM's increase slightly and the vibration is considerably diminished.
I did discuss the idle RPM with my South Florida Hyundai service advisor over the phone and he states that these are computer set. I will be consulting with the head of service about it when I visit next.

my car has the same vibration. it is the ac compressor. kind of annoying but not terrible.

Well, it definitely appears to be "an issue". I imagine everyone who's experiencing this issue has had other cars with air conditioning that did not act this way. So it's something that needs to be brought to Hyundai's attention.

Better us than the media bringing it to the entire world's attention...

Sounds good. So, how does that work? What's the channel to Hyundai?

This a design flaw and they do not want to fix it: My post to Steering Wheel Vibration tag:

I have had this issue on my 2015 Ultimate since 7-8K miles. Hyundai has been trying to fix for40K miles and over 20 days in shop and finally they said just a characteristic of car. If it was they would not have tried to fix and if it is it should not be on this class of car.I am in a battle with them and they tell me they have not heard of this from anyone else. They are to call me in a couple of days to discuss options because I want it fixed or replaced. The issue as I see it is the slight vibration is there all of the time but when ac comes on the idle goes up about 150rpm it gets more pronounced if they just idled car different at idle it would cure issue. They say they can not change that setting. This is BS.....

That is when I started up the ladder and talked to lawyer. I left Caddy for this and it is not something a car of this class should be doing. I expect them to confirm today when they call be back what they told me last week that they had done all they can. This will be when I call the lawyer back. Customer Service told me to give them names of people who also have this issue but I have none. I was hoping to get some backing when I joined this forum.

This is a serious issue and needs to be treated as such.

Re: Small vibration in seats during idle

I do not know how to turn that feature on so a little help would be appreciated?
My email is jschellinger1@msn.com and here is where I stand. The Customer service rep has told me this has gone to regional level and they say it is characteristic of the car and they will carry it no farther. He (Elmo Odums) is also telling me they know of no other people with the same issue but then if no one else has mentioned it how do they know its a characteristic of the car. No car of this class should have this characteristic. They are hoping I and now we,will go away but I will not. They tried to stop this for 8 months on my car alone before taking the stance they are taking. They are a large company and do not care about us individually and there will not be a TSB unless everyone starts complaining. My case # is 9729151 (so tell them the number) and because I will not take trinkets for my issues they are trying to close my ticket. If they do I just call back. I just want them to idle the car up ~ 150 rpm more and this will stop or get me in another car without this issue . It is a design flaw.If you steering wheel vibrates and they pass it off this way what will they pass off next. They can pay millions for Superbowl ads but not fix an issue with our cars. Please send me you name and please go on their CS page - NationalCA@hmausa.com <NationalCA@hmausa.com>and send them a message. I am ready to send this issue to the four TV stations in Dallas area for them to investigate as well as Facebook ( I do not have account but wife does). I need your help as well as you need mine. Please write me ....jschellinger1@msn.com Sorry this is long winded but I am mad!

James,
I know it's been a while since you've posted regarding this vibration issue. I purchased a 2015 Genesis 3.8 Sedan (CPO vehicle) on 7/28/18. When I test drove it I noticed the vibration right away once we (the salesman and I) stopped at a traffic light. He said that it is an A/C issue and service can take care of it since it has a full warranty. My mistake was taking delivery!!!!!! I dropped the cat back at the dealer on Wednesday 8/1 (3 days later) and their "Genesis Master" as I was told said that all the cars do that. I said that the loaner car 2018 G80 does not have the issue. After the car being there 3 days they told me that they found nothing wrong with th A/C but the fuel filter was changed and that fixed the problem. I no sooner pulled out and I felt it again. I was pressed for time and went home. The next day I called them and they told me to drop it off the following week which was Friday 8/3. I went get the car today and was proudly told that it was fixed! they cleaned out the carbon fill up in the air filtration system and around the exhaust manifold. I pulled out of the dealership, drove a half a block away, and at the traffic light the vibration was worse than when I dropped it off the first time. I brought it right back and the service manager had me sit in the car with the technician who worked on the car. He told me that this is a characteristic of some of these cars and there is nothing they can do and I should consider talking to the sales department about another vehicle if I can't live with this. I told him and the manager to replace the entire A/C unit or whatever it will take to fix the problem. I thought of raising the RPM but that leads to more fuel consumption and overall is not so good for the vehicle. PLUS... why should I have to put a band aid on it. So now I'm back home and found your post and posts from others with the same issue. Please tell me how you made out and what can you reccomend me to do next.
Thanks!
Tom
