  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Purchased at 33k miles as second owner; due to the timing of first owner purchase, I still have 11 months left on the warranty so not to concerned now. First owner did oil change every 5-6k miles and car was well maintained.
Many noted problems are common and discussed frequently here. Will bring the car to dealer soon to address the issue.

So far, did oil change (about $100), replaced breaks (about $650), and replaced both turn signal bulbs ($5). Unfortunately, I cracked windshield on the highway (not car's fault) so that will add about $500 more.

1. Panoramic sunroof squeaking and popping
First half squeaks from time to time. Second glass (non-removable) can make popping sound when car was parked under hot sun and when body flexes for couple minutes.

2. Hood vibration at highway speed
This is probably glue issue. I believe some people have resolved this issue on their own.

3. Flutter at around 30mph when car is cold
Very common issue. Drive shaft assembly/propeller?

4. When driving around 65mph (noticeable with cruise control with no acceleration), little high frequently noise
Could be transmission?

5. Dual climate control issue - When car is parked, driver's side is cold and from time to time coldness and strength of the air are inconsistent over driver vs. passenger side. AC works when car is in motion.

6. When car initially starts, it makes louder starting sound for 5 second or so

7. Beige leather seat is not too durable and peels a bit (do not wear jean!)

8. Quad exhaust blackening - this is probably caused by GDI

9. Weak trunk opening - sometimes it may not fully open by its own

I will add more if I can think more.

How did brakes cost $650? I haven't priced out front pads and rotors but the parts shouldn't be more than $300. Is that dealer price?

When my car is very hot, I noticed the rear shade had problems. But geez, the heat index was 120 in Memphis when this happened.

Dealer price. My wife took her 2014 Kia Sedona in a few weeks back and they quoted her $900+ for a brake job, front and rear. The OEM parts alone were over $600. Told her to just walk out and I did it myself over the weekend for under $250.

As for the rest of the OP's issues the exhaust tips are normal. The trunk is normal if you don't have the power lift trunk but if you do have the power trunk I would have them address that. Also the flutter is a common and known problem, however getting the dealer to admit that can be an issue but they will replace/repair once the hear it. The repair or replacement as far as I know just kicks the can down the road as myself and some others who have had the repair had the issue come back since the part has not been redesigned. My hood vibrates as well and one of these days I will pull the insulation down and try to re caulk it. My car is also loud and rough at times when it's cold. Same with my old Sonata and my wife’s Kia. Lots of shaking and clicking from the GDI but it eventually mellows out. It was as smooth as could be for the 1st year or so and I will probably have the intakes cleaned when I get around 50k on it. The pano roof is just a problematic design. This is my second car with this roof and both have been nothing but trouble. Every time they adjust it all they do is fix one area making noise and another area then starts squeaking and cracking. They can be adjusted to be near silent but they will basically need to rebuild the entire roof which they did on my Sonata but they won't do so unless ordered to by corporate. Haven't had any issues with my AC besides the musty order at times.

what oil did you use?

I bought 16 quarts of AMSOIL for 150 bucks how did one oil change already 100?

Dealer just did mine yesterday with Mobil 1 on special for $79.95 but normally $104.95 (7 quarts). $100 sounds about right for the good stuff.

I gave my car the good ol Amsoil treatment 10w-30

bought 4 Gallon (16qt) on ebay for 150 bucks and had take 5 change my oil for 30.

I guess it all add up to about the same but for the price why not get Amsoil? I'm not a dealer but test do show AMSOIL is the superior oil and it really does start up SUPER smooth.

Break job was for fluid change, 4 rotor resurface (needed) and 4 breakpads, with shop fee and taxes at Mr. Tire.

Oil change was full synthetic change, best one Hyundai had.

10. I have encountered this twice; usually when car is cold, sometimes rear shade does not go all the way in and leaves the shade part out. Have to redo it to fully retract.

11. Clicking sound when breaking; this is probably interlock/solenoid touching it. I think this is not limited to Hyndai.

Personally, you can't go wrong with either Mobil 1 or Amsoil. I've watched enough oil comparison tests to make my eyes glaze over and, quite frankly, both rank in the top 2 consistently. I've always run Mobil 1 in past high-line vehicles with nary a problem, so Blue Angel will continue to get the same sweet nectar. :giggle:

FYI, I used to purchase the 5Q jugs of M1 from Wally World on sale for ~$25 less $17 rebate (multiples allowed), so two would net out around $20 for 10Q - kinda hard to beat. That deal seems ongoing: Mobil 1 Rebates at Participating Retailers | Mobil™

Is the clicking when you press on the brake pedal? If so I had the same issues especially when pushing in the brake pedal back to back in stop and go traffic. They replaced a clip that didn't help and then the entire brake pedal assembly was replaced which corrected it.

Man, seems like you had the "perfect storm" of issues!

Hopefully, they replaced your rotors instead of turning them. I found out the hard way that my car didn't like it.

Other than my AC scaring the crap out of me recently by blowing hot air (luckily, removing & reinserting both AC fuses did the trick) and having to occasionally assist the sunroof to close (time for more lube - the Texas heat makes the grease runny & not adhere as well), I haven't had any real issues @68K (mostly highway) miles... Knock on wood!

Fortunately, the previous owner had the infotainment head unit replaced @ 50k.

My hood flaps a little bit, but it hasn't irked me enough to go out and buy adhesive for it.

Just don't get me started on the auto wipers though!
