  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,

I just performed map update (V13) from i believe V6/V7, and while looking around the setting I noticed Android Auto / Apple Car Play icons. It turns out Android Auto function is available through USB (no wireless?) and appears to be working. I was wondering because 5.0 or Ultimate (9.2") did not have Android Auto available; did it come with the new update?

so you have an Ultimate with the 9.2" screen and jog dial and you installed Version 13 and now have Carplay and Android Auto?

just trying to be clear, because up to now neither were available for the 9.2" prior to the 2018 models.

and no it wouldn't work through wireless, wireless Carplay/AA require in car wifi, it does not work through bluetooth because of bandwidth limitations. bluetooth cannot transfer video/screen mirroring, wifi is required for that.

Which radio do you have?

This would be great if true. Any pics?

I have 2015 5.0, non-ultimate with 9.2 (touch only). I have recently bought the car. I will post pic soon.

Yeah, the non ultimates got an update with AA and CP a few years ago.

I thought the touch only was an 8" screen, and your pictures seem to indicate it is an 8" screen. The touch only has an additional plastic surround to fill in the gap difference between the 8" touch and the 9.2" premium.

Carplay was added to the 8" touch a few years back, since your version was so old you didn't have it, but had you done the free upgrade that was offered about 16 months ago you would have had it then.

Well this is embarrassing! Sorry for the rookie mistake. I thought all 5.0 came with 9.2, but come to think of it it is not that big.. have mercy on new owner!

Yeah really sucks wish mapnsoft would offer it up... I see no real need to buy update otherwise. I would really like to be able to use waze through infotainment screen, you would think someone could at least come up with a mirror dongle that would work.

There's probably a hack somewhere but it would probably require a fistfull of obscure dongles & wires from Amazon to make it (maybe) work...

It seems as a matter of principle that some folks believe there s a hack for everything. But that is not always case (and I am not talking about having enough money and time to rebuild the front end from scratch)

Even if there was a hack - it wouldn't be worth the trouble to me....

I mean if there was a viable hack, you could take your car to a car audio store and get it done. Last time I checked at one of the premier ones here tho, it would cost 2-3k in "research" to test of anything would stick. As I don't drive a Benz, too rich for my blood xD (ironically I think the older command interfaces actually have a workaround lololol)

What I find out is the diference between the two systems on the 8 inch and the 9.2 inch. The 9.2 inch is apparently running on Win CE hybrid. This software will not allow to work with the Android Auto or Apple car play. It seems that the 8 inch has Linux based core like android system and after update it will communicate with Android auto or Apple Car play. It will not work vial Bluetooth only when the phone is connected via cable to the USB port. On the G series genesis cars the 9.2 inch system is updated. It almost seems the 15-16 jog dial system is evolution link and become forgotten. The big hype was that you can download homebrew Hyundai apps, but in the end there is only one that is almost useless.

Just to be clear, if you do the map update to V13, (on 2015 Genesis v6 w/jog) you will get the AA & Carplay icons/apps?
